| Subject: Variants in Papo figures, show us yours! Wed Jun 29, 2011 12:35 pm | |
| In the horsey string we were talking about variants in the Papo-range. There must be many, as I already have some in my small collection, so hopefully others can/will contribute also :-) Most of these I have shown before, but never mind, here are mine : The beagle, Item no 51026. The one with brown ears is marked 2004, the one with black ears 2008 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The Exmore pony item no 51002, marked 2003. In the first catalogue 2004 it was dark, but from 2005 – 6 it is brown in the catalogue. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The fjord 51006. Marked 2003. One of them is moulded in the yellow/cream colour. The other is moulded in a milky plastic and painted ! From the catalogues it is hard to see when this change happened, but it has the same colour in the ´4 and ´5 issues whereas it is mor brightly coloured in the ´06 one. The painted one to the right. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The Appaloosa 51038 came in 2005 (Marked 2004), In 2005 – 8 it had the yellowish head. In 2009 the new colour. In 201o the model was replaced by the present Appaloosas [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]By mistake I got two of the little lion cubs 50022. The one with the “spalshy” paint is probably the oldest. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And then the ducks :-) I like ducks, and I saw in Torben`s site, that there were two models of the duck 51017 – one with grass and one without. The one without is in 2004 – 2008 cartalogues. From 2009 it has “grass” under the feet. At MPV they were so kind as to send me one more with grass, but with the old painting. According to the catalogues there are more variants than these three. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The kittens 54003. One of the kittens became black this year. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The old wolf 53004, maked 2003. In the 2004-catalogue it is whitish. In the 2005 -7 it is grey and beige. In the 2008-9 it is grey and white Stangely enough I have only been able to find the wite one, even if one is slightly darker , and the seller`s picture showed the dark variant . [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Thanks for looking, do you have any ? |

| I have a black and a white rearing horse. I´m not sure about the item number... For me they are variants, but I know that some of you don´t consider them in this way if the item number is different. I´m sorry about the photo, they are now in boxes so it´s not easy to take new pics! | They are beautyful, Sylvia I think it is fine to include ones with same mould even if the item no is different Perhaps these were the best ones that Papo originally made, - they were made from 2004 ( year of cataloge where they came first) till 2010 !! The white one has item no 51008, the black one item no 51009. |

| Ooh, I hadn't seen that darker (airbrushed-looking) TB mare before! Mine is (or was) the more common streaky brushpainted type. Don't remember mine having tricolor eyes either... |

| In 2010 Papo made a new painting for the velociraptor I did not know this, MPV was kind enough to write "New painting" under the picture New painting to the left. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Aren`t they cute ? PS, - they can open and close the mouth |

| Susanne, you are a real velociraptor, I'm not saying that you are prehistoric! Not even that you are as cute as your figures, but you are a very fast hunter and you know clearly what to prey! :) Nice seeing from you the history of Papo, repaintings, variations, descontinued figures, we were for a long time only seing Schleich, Schleich and sometimes also Schleich! I love to see it! |

| Still think the hyena needs an over all better paint job. I will have to paint mine to my liking! |
