| Here comes another collector, infected with serious PlayVision... Over the years I used to put away from lots some little animals with a mysterious PV on the belly that seemed wonderful detailled, placed them in a box and admired them now and then. But now the collecting virus got me since I understand they have interesting variation sets of all those unusal animal groups - beside boring lions, elephants and zebras - and I want more, more! Here's what I've got so far (but some more are on their journey over here): Sharks, Turtles, coral fish: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]parrots/cockatoos and some insects: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]and here's the colourful rest: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And my newest and most beloved item is this wonderful frigatebird (probably from Galapagos series?) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And finally a little fraud: because I lack a real PV lion I've made this Cape Lion a Playvision Honoris Causa - fits so wonderfully. Belly just says "Cape Lion China". See him with the PV spotted hyena. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]edit: what do I have to do to make the pictures visible directyl and not only a link? |

| Hi Andreas - of course you can!! Thanks for the nice reception! Getting the frigate Bird was a bit of a hazard game. It was part of a lot (not the best photo) and I had a faint idea it could be an PV item because of the wonderful detail. I knew it wasn't the Safari one, but was beautiful anyway no matter what brand, so I gave it a try. Luckily the lot wasn't too expensive (and luckily I also found a K&M lowland Gorilla and two Malaysian Tapirs in it) Can you imagine my joyful leap when I unpacked the parcel? That leads me to some other questions. For a beginning collector like me it's very difficult to know what he/she has to look for. I'd love to know which sets there are and maybe even what single animals are in those sets. And greatest thing of all to have pictures of all the animals. I'm keeping studying (and admiring) the pictures here, often wondering to which set they might belong. I found on a different forum this information: "Playvisions is a US company that at one time (Late '90s,early 2000s) produced a series of 'Museum quality' miniature animals replicas groups of which came in sets of eights and were branded as 'Habitat Earth' series.
To my knowledge, this included a set of Monkeys, Lemurs, sea turtles, land turtles, mustelids, cats, canines, bears, bovids, sharks, porpoises/dolphins, coral fish, starfish, lizards, crabs, parrots/cockatiels, raptors, galapagos animals, arctic animals, north american animals, south american animals, African animals and Indian/Asian animals
They also produced a set of larger scale Frogs, Salamanders, Chameleons, Ticks, spiders
as well as some prehistorics amphibians, marine reptiles mammals."But what is with Whales, Bats (are there only six, because I've seen your collections, and there were never more than six), crocodiles, Hoofed animals/antelopes - surely he forgot the viverrids. Does indeed anybody know all the sets? And that leads me to the last question: The manta ray and the scarlet crab - where do they belong? The Scarlet Crab is not part of the Crab Set, so it's probably from a regional set? |

Thank you Oh yes, the same questions that i had in the past. Sometimes you found one animal and than you will know the rest of the set. It is the same with K&K animals. So i have a sitatunga and will know the rest. You find also the animals of the bovids set? I think the whales and bats and the other are complete with the 6 animals but i am not sure to 100%. |

| Hello Beatrice, Play Visions are wonderful little figures and it is indeed hard to know everything the brand released. Who knows we can find and build a good place where to find all figures and information about the brand. I edited your original post. To make the pictures appear you only have to paste the links in an edit area that appears after clicking on a button that says Insert image. It is the first of the 2nd row when you are replying to the topic. |

| Congratulation Froggie And welcome PLAYVISIONS is a fascinating and mysterious brand for most of us. Each time we thought we saw the limits, someone bring to the light a figurine we never saw before Jhudstone here is the great PV specialist and could help young collectors as he helped me in the past. I guess the Toy Animal Wiki entry need to be completed for this magic brand It's the first time I see the zebra and the Frigate bird. than you for sharing ! |

| Thanks for your great welcome, it feels very good to be here yes, it's always a pleasent moment to see a PV for first time (especially those you never heard of before...). I had many such great moments leafing through the threads in this forum. This is why I would like indeed to build sort of a database with pictures - with your kind help. Right now I'm trying to sort out some sets complete with their English and especially their Scientific names. Where I can find out I will post also German ones and encourage people with other languages to add their common names too. This is what excel was made for! Finished already Freshwater Turtles, Sea Turtles, Parrots, Mustelids and Viverrids (many thanks to Torben who has all the latin names of those in his list; I just copied them.) Working at the moment at Sharks, Whales, Dolphins, Crabs, Coral Fish, Snakes. Those are the sets I know all the "members". Would be great if you could tell me more sets and their members (english names are sufficient, I sort the scientific ones out. Love to do so!) I will make a photo from every animal I have to illustrate every single animal - but since those are only few, it would be great if you could add pics of your animals to the categories. (will place my results tomorrow as an example how this could look) What do you think - if we PV friends work all together we could make a real great mutual VIRTUAL collection! (since probably nobody has the chance to get a complete REAL collection) |

Je ne comprends rien du tout Andreas, mais alors rien du tout du tout peut-être en Anglais ? Santé Christophe |

| Kikimalou - oh yes I DO appreciate your website - indeed I adore it; its just amazing!! Thanks for pointing me to it - I guess I will spend lot's of time there drooling (o)): And you just solved my mystery about "Black Turtle" - internet said it was just a form of the Green Turtle, but according to your site it's a species of its own, which makes me happy of course. My other question refers to the PV Softshelled Turtle. I have read different names (I don't have a real item yet, so I can't control): Florida soft shelled turtle - would be Apalone ferox - or Peacock soft shelled turtle (which is a different genus and there again at least two species, Indian and Burmese PST). What's the correct one? |

Actually I only have YUJIN sofshelled turtles which are more Asian oriented than PV I guess Andreas or Jhudstone may have the answer, or you will have to wait to have the model to know... if it is not only "Softshelled turtle" PV ! |

| Andreas, I'm not sure (since they don't write the brand) but those turtles might be found here (at least they look the same that Susanne had lately in her thread): [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I'm still searching for someone with US adress to finally be able to order there. Anyone please? |
