I'm still using the tiger repaint tutorial. It is still useful even though some pictures have disappeared

I recently bought a bag full of plastic dogs,  which means that I now have several dog repaint and resculpt projects that I can work on

The first one is going to be a Nova scotta duck tolling retriever. I started with cutting off the parts that I didn't need.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And here he is after all the resculpting,  ready to be painted!

I thought I'd use this old topic again to show my latest repaint.

This is Mojo fun quagga stallion. I've had this wonderful model for quite a long time and always wanted to do it more justice by painting it, but I never did. Until I decided to paint him for national modelhorse painting month. This was the right push for me to finally give him a propper paint job. :)
So now he's finished and I wanted to share the pictures with you!

I have repainted a schleich zebra before into a quagga before, but that was based on the 'new' quagga project version. I really wanted to create the more classic quagga. It was a challenge to recreate this extinct specie because of the lack of good reference pictures regarding colour, but it was a fun challenge. Also, I do feel like I know all the quagga pictures that exists out there now haha

What a beautiful, beautiful repaint! So delicate, so detailed, so realistic- wow!
You have painted each stripe perfectly, and all the details and shades in the coat, you really have so much talent!
And this topic is wonderful too, I have been scrolling back but what caught my eye was your Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever!!!!
I LOVE this breed and you have done an incredible job, the fur, the rich golden colouring and the little white paws, such a transformation! I love him, you make such beautiful canine models!
It also looked like a lovely model to start with- do you remember what was in this bag of plastic dogs/ what brand they were/ where you found them? I would be so interested to know, the original model reminds me of Chap Mei!

Quagga fever! Yes, Anna's quagga deserved a painting like this one. Anna quagga repainted by Anne, sounds good. I don't know how to tell it but i enjoy the way you work with the different density of the colors in different parts of the body. How you avoid excessive contrast where it is not needed. You surely studied very well quagga pictures but you also know perfectly painting technics. It is very realistic, I love particularly the head.
