Does anybody know a site of a dedicated Safari-collector ? The only one I know is Schelichtiersammler.de. Admin-Torben shows a lot of Safari models - also some very rare ones. But is there a collector who has all, or almost all ?

I also don't know and I loved to see it. To find web sources with complete lists is one of the main tools to turn a brand even more collected and valued. I hope a dedicated Safari collector with the needed documentation can start the entry for Safari on Toy Animal Wiki. Or, if someone has that information and as I am almost finishing Mojo tables on Toy Animal, I can start Safari tables as long as someone give me the data.

I have some of the old collection books. I have the Smithsonian Hidden Kingdom Collection, some of the old Carnegie, and MBA collection. I also have some old Safari Catalog pix of the Baltimore Aquarium Poison Dart Frogs, Tennessee Aquarium Salamanders, some of the old AAA figures they sold. BUT, most of the catalog pix were cut out and put into "scrap books" from when I was a kid. So while most of them can't really be scanned into a computer, I may be able to provide some informtion about the various models and what not because some of that info wasn't cut off. The collection books I can probably scan or at least photograph and provide some info. I'll try to do that in the near future.

Thankyou for your help, Sphyrna . I just find it strange that there are so many sites where people are showing good pictures of each animal/thing from Schleich...but really no other brand

I don't know. For many people, Schleich figures are a lot easier to obtain than Safari, especially Safari's museum collections. Also, Schleich has been around a lot longer than Safari, and Safari initially acted as a distributed / retailer of AAA figures. Then they started introducing their collections, and it wasn't until 1996 or so that they started the Wild Safari line, which was meant to be a value priced alternative to their museum collections. So the Wild Safari figures were more "kid friendly" than their more accurate collectibles. Muddying the waters, some Safari collection figures were available through Schleich for a while, and that is how many people who collected Schleich got those figures. When Safari stopped selling directly to consumers, they stopped producing a catalog that was consumer oriented, and it became very difficult to obtain much information about their products, as the only source of information was what was supplied to the authorized retailers. They finally started to make their collection books available after they stopped selling directly to consumers, but those were initially pretty barebones and lacking much info about the figures themselves. They were far more education-oriented, so they focused on the animals' info over the collection/replica's collectibility info.
