Anyone who knows me from DTF will know my main passion is for plesiosaurs and other prehistoric marine reptiles. Not only the creatures themselves, of course, but also the toys, and here's my collection! I've added a few more figures to the collection since these photos were taken, but this is basically the lot. Hope you enjoy!

Wow, fascinating creatures of the past times Very Happy Interesting how modern look had turtles those times, resemble extant species so much that they almost don't fit to prehistoric atmosphere of this display What a Face Very Happy

Congratulations, it's awesome collection! cheers

Thanks for the comments! Actually, I think there's only a single turtle in my collection, the Archelon by Kaiyodo (on the second 'step' on the left in the second photo). You are right though, prehistoric turtles are essentially recognisable by today's standards, relics of a bygone age! The other creatures with shells you can see in my collection are placodonts, ancient relatives of plesiosaurs. Some placodonts evolved a superficially turtle-like shell but they are not turtles :) Other placodonts were 'naked' - no shell!

I think I never saw your shelves Adam, now I have a place to visit them Cool This is an awesome thematic collection !

I moved your topic in the "Collection" section. Maybe we are more extant animals oriented here but extinct species are very welcome cheers

You said you add some new models since those pics. Which ones ?

I can't see the COLLECTA Dolichorhynchops or the FAUNA CAST Muraenosaurus. I have a special love for the doli.
Did you add the odd old fashioned PAPO tylosaurus ?

Thanks for moving my topic to a more appropriate section, I'm still getting used to the STS layout.

Yep, I now have all of three of the figures you listed, I need to take new photos!

The Faunacasts Muraenosaurus is with my 'statues' in the kitchen :):

Oh, I thought the 4th animal counting from right to left on this shelf is also kind of turtle, thank You for the lesson then (it's placodont, I never heard about them) My knowledge about prehistoric animals is very small study
Thank You for the information and big congrats! Your kitchen's displays are also very nice Very Happy

Ana,

Thanks for your interest Cool Yes, that figure is a placodont called Henodus. Here's a closer look, if you're interested. It is a rare figure by sculptor Hirokazu Tokugawa. The resemblance to a turtle is purely superficial :)
