I never knew I've made an arsinoitherium Where did you seen it? It must be made by someone else. Edit: I've found the arsinoitherium. It's made by mb-cg, also on Shapeways. There are a few modellers on Shapeways who create extinct creatures. I believe I'm the only one yet on Shapeways who make modern animals. Maybe I'll make someday also a few extinct animals. _________________ Stijn. My Site with 3D Printable Animals

| I know some are weary of this technology. But keep in mind, in the not so distant future, all households will own a 3d printer, much like we all own an inkjet printer. Many people love to contribute to society without the thought of money, these artists will create 3d images for anyone to download for free. We will all be able to print the same figures that people make available for pennies.
I think that the toy and replica market will be the first to go. Companies will not survive by selling their toys, they will have to adapt to sell the 3d image file so that we can print it at home. No shipping costs. And I am sure by then there will be color 3d printers.
I find it very fascinating that 3d printers will allow for a society that does not need money for our material wants or desires, we will only need resources for the printers. We will be able print just about anything. Want to download a Ferrari, just get the right metals and have the printer print you the parts.
How will this change our economy? Only time will tell. For those that think this is far fetched, I must disagree. This is very real and us younger folks will see it in our lifetime.
To the OP, you are extremely talented and have a very bright future in this replica market. Have you considered purchasing your own printer to bring costs down and painting the figures? You aren't very far off from actually competeting with major companies!! |

You aren't very far off from actually competeting with major companies!! Yeah, you're right, but I think it'll during at least 10/20 years before the most people has a 3D Printer by them own. Color 3D printers are available allready, but the quallity is not great. And thanks for your compliments, I've considered purchasing my own printer, but the prices of printers like Shapewayes uses, are thousands of dollars. I'm a pour student, so that's not in my reach. It'll be possible if a company wants to invest in me or if a company hires me. - Taylcoel wrote:

Print means laying a layer of ink on a material like paper. 3D Print means laying multiple layers of a material on each other, so there will be a model with height, width and length _________________ Stijn. My Site with 3D Printable Animals

| Very nice work! Congrats! I think eyes are little bit too flat, they should be more like real spheres. Also I think dik-diks have dew claws :) I like especially the head of Your model :) _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

Thanks Ana, I think you're right with the eyes. I'll make some little improvements to this model. I'm not sure about the dew claws. I think they have little ones, but on the pictures I've seen, most of the time they're hidden under the fur. - Kikimalou wrote:

I think I'll show this weekend more pics (also with the little improvements) I think I'll release the dik-dik this weekend on my Shapeways shop for those interested :) _________________ Stijn. My Site with 3D Printable Animals

Photo made by Wild Dogger. More animal pics HERE I think you're right, but I'll show you the model in the program I'd made him. (I've not changed anything yet): You can see some structure here, but that structure is hidden on the white renders. So I think I must do it for my feeling overdone, so it'll be good for 3D printing. _________________ Stijn. My Site with 3D Printable Animals
