| A few days ago I've bought another Greater Kudu, which is a Little bit diffrent to my current Kudu male, so it is darker in colour and his horns are going upwards meanwhile the horns of my older Version are going backwards as like as it is the case of all other kududs at the toystore, so maybe the darker Version, both are made in Germany, is the newer Version, so they changed the direction of the horns. Here are some pics to Show the diffrences : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| I think it is not a variation. I think only the antlers (horns) are a little bit steeper. Someone ore the sun (heat) flexure the antlers above |

| I think the horns would not have bent like that in heat, - not at the thickest point near the head |

This seems the most probable. I do not think that the sun would cause it to bend. But I don't know. Nice addition though. |

| Sometimes they also gets wrong out of the mould in the Schleich factory. I saw in one store all the cows have only one ear. Sometimes the finally check in the factory is very bad. |

I saw in one store all the cows have only one ear. Sometimes the finally check in the factory is very bad. That is very interesting Peter. We need to remember that Schleich has a lot of factories and that these figures are massively produced. Even being from the same country these manufacturing differences can happen. That is one of the reasons why we should call real variations when an intentional updating happens in the same mold, being it a little mold updating or even painting. Most of the painting variations we see are only because figures are at a certain stage handpainted and of course there are differences, although they follow the same layout. It is not rare when we go to a Schleich shop and all pinto horses have little differences. Surely they are interesting as collectibles but doesn't represent a real variation. About these two Bongo is showing, I have no idea if they are or not real variations but it is very interesting to see these differences. |
