I really know your problem. My animals are in large boxes, because my glass cases are full with fossils and ancient artefacts. I have my own small room with 3 large cases and the little cases. And my girlfriend will no allowed other rooms for my collections. _________________ www.spielzeugtiere.com STS members can merge Andreas |

| Susanne shared ages ago about storing figures in boxes, so just be careful what you wrap them in. If they are stored too long the bubble wrap could stick to the figures and take paint off them later. Maybe the acid free tissue paper would be ok...anyone know for certain? Anyone willing to share their horror stories? Be sure to have a list of what is put away and where so you don't forget what you already own and forget and buy another of the same figure. Dioramas are so nice, but I bet they take up alot of room. ~ Sue |

| I am finding it harder and harder to find room on my shelves for my figurines. I was wondering if anyone has any good storage ideas for my collection. I don't just want to throw all my figures into a box and have them benty and scratched. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! |

| Well, boxes ARE the easiest, - but don`t throw them in. If possible I have them standing up with bouble-plastic between. NEVER use foam-chips ! They stick to the models after a couple of years, and it is impossilbe to get off again without leaving some Recently I have foung a large, old chest of drawers at a flea market ( almost free). I have painted it bright red and it can hold a huge number of models _________________ SUSANNE |

| I was thinking of using smaller boxes (a lot of them) and wrapping them in bubble wrap, it's the best I can think of at the minute! |

| Folded cardboard (possibly covered in lint-free wrapping paper, paper towel or that very soft packing foam sheeting first) secured between unsupported thin bits on models (such as the legs & longer horns) helps to protect those parts from bending in storage.
If you are to wrap the models in bubble wrap and reside in a climate where humidity, especially if coupled with heat, is a likely occurrence, I'd recommend loosely wrapping the models in lint-free wrapping paper first and even then placing the bubble wrap so the bubble side won't touch the model's surface. I don't know how prone these Schleich-style soft plastic models are to finishwork problems, but with cellulose acetate based Breyers and the like, the bubbles have sometimes been known to cling to a model's finish and tear the paint clean off when the model is again unwrapped. |

| The showcases are also a good way to expose his figures while placing them (store them in some way). Below my windows I have room to put my figurines and even put cash for inventory.

| Thank you everybody for lots of great suggestions! This is really helpful. (And thank you to Andy of course for starting this thread!)
Susanne, it's so useful to know about the foam-chips. (I hate those things.) Thank you!
Phil, wow! what a great system. It looks excellent. I think I may try to emulate it to some degree or another. Thank you so much!

| Aside from resealable bags, which is standard practice here for collectors, I also used Japanese paper to wrap the figures. |
