CollectA 2014: WILDLIFE - Mountain Nyala (88689)

Wow what a long time it too to get this model made - it almost never made it onto this year's list and I fought really hard to get this made in time.  The idea behind this species was again to make an endangered antelope but also one that is sort of similar to a more commonly seen animal - the Greater Kudu.  The Mountain Nyala is very closely related and looks very similar so why opt for a Kudu of which we have had so many and which we are bound to see more of again in future by other brands when we could switch it for something similar yet different and please the collectors! It was the same thinking that spurned the creation of the Pygmy Hippo and I am really happy that CollectA obliged.

This is the image of the prototype and some changes are still to be made to the face and horns - the horns need to repositioned a little more on the head and the eyes repositioned a little more upwards then forwards on the face. This image was inspired by a photo of a creeping Nyala that was crouching and walking through bush in the African Savannah

But it isn´t on my wishlist cause I already have the Mountain Nyalas from Noah´s Pals. But it is a very beautiful figure :)

Holy whatever! I'm not an afcrican hoovestock collector and i even have problems with some recent CollectA Antilopes, but this one really knocks me off. And i even go on step further: female and calf please!

The difference is, that CollectA release a mountain Nyala, also called balbok. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] The Mountain Nyala is closer related to the Kudu than the Nyala does.

Wonderful figurine, much better as the Noahs Pals figurines. I will buy this but i am a little sad, no new specie for me

This is absolutely Gorgeous!!! Wow I'm really impressed. Much much better than the Noah's Pals Nyalas, in my (relatively humble) opinion. I have the Noah's Pals, but will definitely be getting this. It is one of my very favorite CollectA models for 2014.

(As fantastic as it is, though, it doesn't compare to Anna's Male Nyala. But of course, that's not a fair comparison. Anna's is a gorgeous resin, and it's not possible to represent the legs as thin as they should be using the plastics used for toys. I realize that entirely. But I still have to take the opportunity to mention how utterly fantastic Anna's Nyala is.)

Giggity! That's a premium model. The excitement for 2014 has just been ratcheted up.

From you Numaan and CollectA, I couldn't never expect a greater kudu. Mountain nyala is much more adjusted and needed.
Again love the pose, painting and sculpting is very competent. We have to remember that these antelopes are so hard in terms of manufacturing that some brands almost don't make them. Such a long wish list for a little pocket.
