How to put video-images like avatar??

Hello everyone!

I have a really cool moving avatar, of me and Tinky galopping on the beach. I would love to use it, but it doesn't move on STS
Aren't gif avatars allowed?

Kaat, gif avatars are allowed, let me know if you can see my avatar moving?
If you can't, it is your browser, if you can maybe you need to reduce the size of your avatar. While updating your profile check the maximum sizes allowed to avatars.
If you can't do it just e-mail me and send to me the wanted avatar and I'll do it for you if I can.

That's pretty simple! Just go to Profile in the menu below the forum's logo. Than you find a new menu, in which you have to click on Avatar. There you browse for a picture on your computer or you can paste a link to a picture from the internet. Good luck!

When you go to your profile clicking "profile" on top. While changing your avatar, you can use several suggestions from the forum galery or just use any picture you like.
If you have any troubles finding an avatar or trying to put it on your profile, you can send a private message to me or any other moderator of the forum and it will be a pleasure to help you.

Thanks. My avator is a picture of the Small Cat exhibit sign, Melbourne Zoo, Victoria, Australia. It is my favourite exhibit at Melbourne Zoo .Sadly it doesn't exist anymore. It closed on the 29/1/14.

Do you mean moving images? They're called GIF. It's a type like JPG and PNG and such. If you search on the internet for example 'horse gif', you'll find some moving horses. There are lots of sites where you can find GIF avatars.

If you want to make your own GIF, you shouldn't ask me; I've never done that, but I'm sure there are lots of tutorials on the internet.

If you found or made such an avatar, just upload it or put the link at the avatar page of your profile and it should work

They are great gifs.
But I do not like big or moving stuff as avatars/signatures much, - it makes the forum messy, IMHO
Some forums are so full of them, it is almost impossible for newcommers to see what is relevant, and what is "stuffing"

I agree, I don't like trying to read through forums that are just filled with huge signatures and animations, and you have to figure out what is part of the thread and what isn't!
