T.M Caterpillars? Empty
PostSubject: T.M Caterpillars?   T.M Caterpillars? EmptySat 2 Nov 2013 - 12:12

Hello,

I received these 6 caterpillars recently from ebay.
I was wondering what the marking in picture 2 could be? I had only found it on some T.M marked figures in my collection. These are only marked "Made in China"!
Perhaps it´s just a coincident, but who knows.

Can somebody help me?

Thank you all
Sebastian

Those look like repaints/ reprints. But I think I have an idea. Thanks for posting. Maybe, just maybe this post can help solve my T.M. mystery? I have a small collection of insects with that elusive T.M. on them.

The caterpillars with T.M. located on them, that I have are based off real species. Some reason my current photobucket photo batch missed catching them, but I got the butterflies.  I'll have to come back with the proper photos.

But I leave this one. Caterpillar upper right: The butterflies are also of whatever company did the caterpillars:

and this one. It shows the queen butterfly caterpillar, which one of yours shares that mold:

I just looked at the caterpillars. Took more pictures. Nope they don't have any branding on the bottom either. Not even the T.M. or the triangle.  I do remember them being based off real species though.

Okay photos now:

Looks like only the queen got labeled. There's also a #'7' on it. The rest are left unmarked. "Made in China" Based on what I know about insects I can say one is based off a swallowtail. Probably anise swallowtail, old world swallowtail or eastern black swallowtail. Though the black bands should have been sprayed thicker. The last one (with the orange stripes on the sides) eludes me. I suspect in the Pieridae family (whites and sulfurs.) though I can't pinpoint the species.

Those actually might be Nayab. I think I've seen them in different colors on Nayab's site.
