CollectA 88721 Chiru: A walkaround by Kikimalou

CollectA is without a doubt the modern champion for producing species rarely made before: Sulawesi babirusa, Mountain nyala, Red river hog, Southern casoar and many more…  

This brand is also the champion fo ”species never made before” toys like the Saola. For 2015, the Chiru expands the list.  

These Tibetan antelopes have the misfortune of possessing the finest and warmest wool in the animal kingdom. That’s the reason why they have become endangered due to poaching in the last years. Lets’ hope the international trade prohibition will save this wonderful species.

Closed to the goat-antelopes, the Chiru is a medium-sized antelope. Males can be distinguished by their long and thin horns. The coat is pale fawn to reddish-brown, with a whitish belly, and is particularly thick and woolly. The face is almost black in colour.

And now let’s talk about the CollectA Chiru. This is a male with the horns and exact markings. The scale is around 1/16. The legs and horns are thin. Despite this it stands very well but it seems it is not the case for the horns. Maybe it is the price to pay for avoiding thick horns. Nevertheless Costicuba explained that it is easy to reshape the horns with hot water.

Beautiful figure and beautiful photos! I look at those horns and can't help but think of the story, "The Stag at the Pool".

It is such a fabulous model, and how lucky we are to be collectors right now when a brand makes awesome brands

Obviously Collecta takes a large risk in making such fragile details, - my poor chiru 's antlers are flapping to the sides, and I know others have the same problem.
But I love him anyway, he is so unique

I don't mind to pay that price for avoiding thick horns. I also don't mind having figures with delicate legs instead of some others quite chubby. I also don't mind of having so many unusual species even they don't sell very well. CollectA is the absolute champion for collectors of unusual species, no doubts! Thanks for your great pictures!
