1994 ENORMOUS dino !

In Torbens huge collection I spotted these :

So when I saw one for sale on Ebay at a reasonable price, I bought it, expecting a creature the size of the ordinary dinoes. You can imagine my chock when I got this :

So I am not going to collect those

They seem so far from everything that Schleich usually make ...
Can anybody tell me something about them? When and why and how and.... ????

Maybe you should first ask Torben about the size...

Yes, they are quite huge. I love them all though. I have 8 of the 10 that are available. They were made in 1994.

Actually this one was not very expensive, it is not new.
But it smells of smoke.

Maybe I can wash it ?
Does anybody have one with the tag on ? Does it say if it can be washed ?

Hello, Susanne - the brachiosaurus you have pictured is, along with the slightly smaller diplodocus, much much larger than most of the rest (I haven't seen the Elasmo or the Parasaur pluschies, but I imagine someone has one or both).

If you collect them, please look for the Schleich tag, as Gund sold these with a Gund tag (presumably the manufacturer) here in the USA. Evidently, the line available in Germany in 1994 was cross-licensed in a similar manner as the AAA Made in China sealife lines and the Safari Ltd.-manufactured Schleich "Authentics" were.

My dino fortunately has a white piece of fabric attached stating that it is Schleich. But not the loose paper-one, that I can see in some photoes.
The "fabric" thing does not say if the dino is washable. I thought maybe the paper-tag does ?

Even when he is to big for you, i like them, maybe just because they are Schleich to...
But Schleich made carriages for children to, so you can't collect all of it!

Susanne, I checked the ones I have with tag, and they do not list any mention of washing or care instructions. Since these were actually manufactured by Gund, the famous stuffed toy maker, maybe you can refer to their website for such information..... :)

I think washing the outside on low temperatures is not the problem, but the inside material can go bad, specially when it is old...
Then you end up with a plush-dino, that can't stand anymore or so, because the inside material is shredded or something like that..

There is nothing about washing on the site, - I could write them, of course..

...but, Willy, you are probably right. (I don`t know how to quote two persons), so I won`t risk it.

Drycleaning perhaps ?

No, I think I will wait till summer, and air it well and good in my wood-shed. There is no sun to bleach it and lots of fresh air...fortunately the dino is not really dirty, he just smells of stale smoke

You might try something like febreeze on it to take out the odor. There is also one called 0 odor that might work. There is also another called Oust that might be helpful. They are all spray on and are supposed to take out odors.

I don`t know those brands, but we must have something similar here .
