Sometimes, I buy a new duplicate specimen to customize it; I also bought lots where there was a figurine that I already had, I take this opportunity to give it a second life!
From now on I will think of you too my friends for exchanges

It worked quite well as a Northern Gannet with this new coat. Nicely done! :)

I did the same to personalize it

Yesterday I left to paint a female ostrich that I don't have in my display.  
I have one of Noah palls, and a couple bandai too small scale that I want to keep original.  
I realized that I only had double the very first Schleich ostrich!  
After reflection it came to me obvious that it would not work !!!!  
So I took the option of customizing it in Darwin's Rhea that will work with its size.

I severed the feathers from his tail

Surprising project! The old Schleich ostrich is very charming but a very inaccurate ostrich model, so I understand why you gave up from turning it into a female. It is looking nice as a rhea and as far as I remember, this figure is relatively small for an ostrich what is good.

It looks good as a Darwin's rhea :) Did you added the extra toe to each foot?

I can't be sure but I think this model has already extra toes.

No pardofelis, I didn't need to add an extra toe as Schleich's original sculpture is inaccurate for an ostrich and already has three!  
Until I make a homemade figurine of a Darwin rhea, this one will do the job just fine.
