Rescue dogs

Hi dear STS friends.

Since I'm trying to be more active here on the forum, I thought it would be fun to share my favourite custom pieces in this thread.
These are what I call my "rescue dogs". They all are dogs that I found second hand that where, at there original state, very in need of a makeover (in my opinion).

In that way, I'm trying to give my dog cms new live and hence the name "rescue" dogs
This is also why I'm giving them all a name, and I really enjoy coming up with names that have some sort of meaning (no surprise if you watched my arctic fox sculpture thread :) )

So one by one I will introduce you the group of dogs I have now. I might have shown some already previously on the forum, but it's nice to have them all in one place anyway.

This first one goes way back and was 'rescued' in summer 2013

What a wonderful, wonderful topic with a wonderful wonderful idea!
I am definitely going to follow it every step of the way, I am so so excited to see your rescued dogs, and how you have given them their lovely new life!
We definitely need to encourage more people to rescue, there are sadly so many dogs in rescue centres now, but your topic is amazing because it just shows that rescue dogs can be just as beautiful and lovely as others!
And Leihla is absolutely gorgeous, and what made me smile even more was the fact she is a Goldie!!!
She is the perfect dog to start to this topic, and her name suites her so well- and the transformation is amazing! I love how you have painted all the shades of golden on her beautiful coat, and given her such a kind and loving face, which retrievers are so famous for! She looks a bit like Otter, the dog in my avatar- I love her!!
I am really looking forward to meeting the rest of your rescue dog family, I could look at photos like this all day!

This is amazing, sooooo amazing!
You have changed a lovely model of Snowy into a dog that is so beautiful in every way!
I love how you sculpted the details of his face- so sweet and expressive, and I love the angle, looking up with that playful puppy look, as if he is about to do something a bit cheeky!
I love how you re-sculpted such wonderful fur details, and gave him those lovely BMD colours! :drunken:I can see how it is one of your favourite customs- this gorgeous dog combines so much character with such realistic characteristic of a BMD puppy!

And now it is time for a third one. This one hasn't undergone any big transformation involving cutting, gluing and sculpting, but this was merely a repaint. But paint can do a big job of transforming too. Originally it was a new ray novelty dog.

I love how you have made her so realistic, and with books to scale with her too! Her face is amazing, just like a real Borzoi with so much detail and wonderfully blended colours, and I love how you have painted the fur to look so silky!
And the last photo made me smile so much, three wonderful dogs!

Are you ready for the next one?

This time I the rescuing was more a rescuing from myself. I've had a second one of the schleich male husky and wanted to customized it. But every time it just didn't work out. It as been a husky-wolf mix called skeptic because it (or rather I, haha) couldn't really make up if he wanted to be more a wolf than a husky. Then I decided upon turning it into a wolf and I started adding clay. That was in 2013. I still wasn't happy with it and it was left standing unfinished on my shelf. Until 2019 when I decided that I was just going to paint it whenever I was completely happy with the sculpt or not. I finally finished it in summer 2019 and I have to say I am really happy with the results!

After all those years, you have made another beautiful model, it's amazing how you can transform this husky so well to make this other wonderful Shepherd-husky mix!
I love how you have made the fur so thick and shaggy, and all the shades of brown and grey- and the eyes!! You have really captured that intelligent knowing look that some dogs have!
