Mojo 2022 Walkarounds & Review: Eagle, Falcon, Owl, Red Panda & Fennec Fox!

A few weeks ago Minizoo received the new Mojo 2022 figures in stock, so I grabbed the following:

-Golden Eagle
-Peregrine Falcon
-Barn Owl
-Red Panda
-Fennec Fox




I decided to include all in this topic because I didn't have that many photos for each, this way you can find everything right here

Fennec Fox:













I quite like the sculpt of this fennec fox, might be one of my favorites in terms of poses. One main issue I've always had with Mojo is that I feel like they don't add enough paint on their models. They have many beautiful sculpts and species choices, but the paint is very underwhelming sometimes. So my only complaint with this figure is that I wish it had a bit more color or paint gradient. Very adorable though and it will join my other foxes on my Saharan display

Red Panda:













A very cute red panda. I like the unique pose, I just think it looks a bit strange at some angles... I also don't like the huge words on the back, its not hidden at all. Again I wish it had more paint but its nice to have a different pose.

Peregrine Falcon:












Probably the most boring of the bunch, but a nice bird of prey for my collection.

Golden Eagle

I was by far most excited for this model, although like the rest, I just wish the paint job was better... Sculpt looks great but these look much worse than the photos we saw of these at the toy fair. Its clear to me now that those were painted very nicely just to be on display... To be honest if I knew they would look like this I probably only would have gotten the eagle. Oh well, maybe I'm being to negative

Overall I was expecting much better and was kinda let down. I thought the paint on their figures last year looked great! Hopefully this was just a bad batch? Sorry to be so negative, let me know if you would like anymore comparisons

Very useful comparison photos with other brands! The fennec is good for make a diorama with a family of various fennecs living together in the desert :) I like the red panda, the position is very original and the leg and paws proportions and paintjob are better than in other red panda figures but like you, I strongly dislike the huge writing in the back. I have the Colorata eagle and seeing other eagles in flight together I think that Colorata is the only one that got the correct proportions, shapes and number of feathers in wings.

The fennec is my favourite, the sculpt is lovely and although the paint is a bit wishy-washy, he almost gets away with it cos they are such a pale colour anyway.

I agree that the golden eagle would look much better with a detailed repaint, the feathering is all there and would pick out nicely with individual shading.

The lettering all over the back of the red panda is a total deal-breaker, that's a terrible choice which ruins the figure entirely, and I have to say I feel really sorry for anyone who was really looking forward to adding this sculpt to their collections.
Now, I don't mind brand names being on models too much, if they're small amounts of text and put in an inobtrusive place - although I always carve lettering off when doing a custom, I can overlook it on a model I really want to keep if it doesn't catch the eye when handling, photographing, or on display. Hidden under the foot or the tail, tucked away along the belly on a standing pose where you don't see the underneath, that kind of positioning can make it discreet enough to miss.
But that is SO MUCH writing, and so very obvious from every angle except the very front, there's no way I'd be able to live with that no matter how much I wanted the animal.

I like really a lot the fennec. I'd get it anyway but the sculpt is superior to the CollectA model and I like the CollectA. Painting is too simplistic what is a pity since Mojö could compete easily for the best fennec but a paintjob at least at the same level of CollectA is needed. Fortunately Mojö Fun is the opposite of Papo. While Papo tends to decrease the painting quality on further production batches, Mojö uses to improve the painting quality with time.
My opinion about the red panda is the same as everyone, fantastic pose, it will display nicely but the writing is very unpleasant. However, I think I want it too. I like standing up models.
I don't feel any special attraction for that peregrine falcon, I think I won't pay much atention to it for now.
On the other hand, golden eagle sculpt is spectacular even if it is not completely accurate. One more model that would look much better with a good painting quality.

I agree that the fennec fox would be the best one if the paint was better.

I just realized I completely forgot about the Barn owl I will post the photos I took of it later tonight with comparisons

It's alright, although I have to fix the eyes because it has an "eyedrop" shaped eye but they just put a black dot for the eyes and it looks very weird. Otherwise its nice, not my favorite though.

I really like the Fennec. I think I will buy it.
Somehow, the pose of the red panda reminds me of Puss in Boots.

I like the fennec more each time I see it, especially in that line-up from the different brands, it stands out as by far the best for anatomy and proportions when you scan along the line (apart from maybe the sitting one on the left, he's good)

I agree. CollectA model is cute and nicely painted but it has the short legs and body as we see in some older Schleich models. Safari's does not even look like a fennec. Papo's is actually nice but the body is built somewhat like a hyena dropping to the back. Schleich fennec is a joke, looks like a Playmobil figure. The sitting Yowie is a fortunate model. It is chubby but you only can see it with the figure in your hands. Mojö figure has a head in good proportion with the body. All the elements of the body are harmoniously integrated. Legs have a correct length, the pose gives a fragile looking to the animal and they really look like that. It is really the painting which is very poor but as I commented before, Mojö uses to update the painting. Another very nice model is the small Eikoh but probably Jolie does not have it yet.

I missed the owl update. It is a lazy one even for Mojö standards. I can't even judge it properly.
My favorite has been for all these years the beautiful CollectA model.

And no I don't have the Eikoh fennec, it does look like a very nice one though! Might have to pick it up at some point

I think the facial pattern on the owl is nice. Luckily, we know they believe in updating paint schemes pretty regularly.

I have missed a lot, Mojo already releasing their beautiful models! Must catch up with all of this!
Lovely photos, it's always interesting to see the new releases for the first time! I really like the Fennec too! I must try and hunt down their bulldog as well now, can't wait to see what he looks like in real life!
Your comparison photos are really useful too to see the differences between the different interpretations by each brand!

All the birds in your photos look great. It's amazing how many colours a barn owl can have. I agree about the red panda. Quite a nice figure, but he looks like a sportsman sponsored by Mojo with the lettering on his back.

No hurries, Jolie. I also don't know very well how to group Mojo Wild animals these days. They apparently do not have anymore distinct series for Woodlands and Widlife and I think they merged them all as Papo did some years ago. I'll list all the new Woodland/wildlife releases as wildlife.
