[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Baby alligator in its natural enviroment. Photos taken at Lemon Bluff landing on the St Johns River, Osteen FL. I could hear the real gators grunting all around while I was there, and saw a few floating watching for dinner. I wouldn't want to get that close to a real baby, the mommas are protective!

that's amazing to read! hearing the gators grunting I wonder if any of the mums (or dads) saw you with this little baby - they might think it is one of theirs I hope you didn't stay by the water's edge too long!
I really like the last pic amongst the water plants the most :)

Am I understanding it? A real alligator tried to steal your baby gator and you chased him? I love the athmosphere with the gator sounds. Baby sounds are very cute.

No, the baby and I were safe. I didn't notice any real gators closer than about 10 yards- though the margin was overgrown to my left, just the sort of enviroment they love. Fortunately they are usually nervous of humans and don't want to get too close.
Safari had a Labor Day sale, so I finally broke down and bought the crested gecko I've been wanting; a couple buddies travelled along. Here's the crested: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] With a staghorn fern and curcumin, native not so very far from their homeland.
And a horny toad. I don't have much to mimic their enviroment. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Great photos. I am surprised the baby gator didn't escape. What is the beautiful flower that the crested gecko is sitting on?

Thank you Roger! (wish my camera would focus right) The flower is a cucurma, or turmeric.
Rogerio, adult gators sound amazingly like a pig grunting! But I agree on the babies, it's an adorable chirp.

Beautiful reptiliarium you're building up. Baby gators sounds reminds me some frogs but frogs seem to make all kind of noises.
