Schleich Sheep friends (42660)

The Sheep friends from this year arrived today! Here are some pictures of it, i sadly needed to do the photos in hand as i dont have time to do a set up in Daylight, so im sorry for that

OH, great! I'm looking forward to see your opinion about them. One good thing about these figures we can read on the promotional text since they're not just random sheep:

"The fluffiest inhabitants of the farm are undoubtedly the three sheep friends from England. The White Hampshire Sheep with the black muzzle and its companions go everywhere together. Two of the friends are Southdown Babydoll Sheep and have very pretty coloring. One is spotted and the other is chocolate brown."

My opinion: The 3 are very small, at least the Hampshire. The Babydoll are more in scale if you compare them with other sheep. The Hampshire is almost as big as the Babydoll, which doesn't fit at all. Hampshire sheep are a bit smaller, but definitely not as small as the Babydoll. I think the Hampshire is still a young ewe, otherwise she is too petite to be a mature ewe. These can weigh up to 100kg and unfortunately she is too small and petite for that. The legs should have been a bit darker, as it looks like it has white legs and not black/brown as it is in the breeding standard. The babydolls are well made and as far as I can tell are well within the breeding standard. The brown one has nice shading, the spotted one has kind of creepy eyes, at least on my model. The spots are okay, have a little spray that could be left out. All in all they are nice sheep, the Hampshire has a few flaws in my opinion (among other things the hind claws are too long). What I like is that the 3 have longer tails, because not all sheep are docked and almost all model sheep only have docked tails, that's something different. It's also well done that the Hampshire is bleating. Oh and the details in the wool are great, the babydoll has depth in it which is just super, the Hampshire looks like it is 3-4 months after shearing.

I would never expect such a complete review about sheep. Many thanks for your very interesting observations. :)

Thanks for the review! I really like both the size of these sheep and the breeds that Schleich chose! This is likely something I'll buy whenever it's released, maybe in the Summer of this year...

Goat friends are a great idea! It is more than unlikely but i wish that Schleich would make more of these sets with different sheep breeds, that would be lovely

No Problem! It was fun do that, will do it again if something Sheep related is going to be released again^^

That's great to know. My suggestion for a new friends set is black sheep friends.

That is a nice idea and there are many breeds that come in Black, like Merinolandschafe, Quessant or the bavarian Forest Sheep, badger face welsh montain Torwen and so on  so many that they could choose from
Also i thought about this today,a set only with lambs from the different breed would be fun
