Some dogs from Papo

A while ago I bought some shepherd-dogs to look after the sheep.

For once I was not 100 % pleased with my new Papo-figueres. They are not awful, but hmmmm


The German shepdog is ok. The moulding is great but the painting is far from the nice, saturated dog colour of the catalogue


The collie is beautyful, but OMG! I think he is blind


The Border collie, - here the paintwork is actually slobby. Look how paint has run down his neck
And he has got teeth on his tongue
That kind of painwork does not belong in a Papo-figuere


Well, Papo CAN make nice dog figueres. I also got the basset hound, - and isn`t he just lovely ?


Was I just unlucky? Do any of yo have these dogs in a better version ?
If yes, then please will you show them here

What a shame the painting's so sloppy - still, the collie's eyes at least look like a quick fix. The actual sculpting's ok though?

Yes, I think the sculpting is really nice .
And you are right, a dot of black paint on the eyes of the collie could make it look better

Of course, but expecting good paintjobs from Papo is a bit like expecting a good theropod from Schleich...

Oh, unlucky Susanne! I already learned to love my Papo rhino chocolat eater but two of those are not in an acceptable condition, I think!
I love the last dog, it is very cute and funny! Papo has very nice painting layouts but sometimes really bad paintjobs!
Have you already talked with who sold it?

That rough collie is just like the Lassie dog - I used to have a real one of those when I was little
Shame about the paintwork on some of them, but still congratulations Susanne - the Basset hound is gorgeous

Well, nothing WRONG with the German Shepherd dog, only it looks so much nicer in the catalogue

Hmmm...so they CAN make nice painwork, ....Sumo perhaps you can still expect a good theropod from Schleich

Ah, here in Portugal almost everybody calls Lassie to these dogs! It is very popular here, maybe the same in other countries! :)
Susanne, if you don't feel confortable complaining it is your choice and I understanding, I also don't like to complain when there's no reason to do it! But...
Sumo, Schleich dinos are only in the range because they are important in terms of market, many childen love them, they are hard to make scientifically accurate, so the brand keep some dinos but is not interested in wasting many time and money with them! :)

Even in Singapore! we call them Lassie too!

I still congrat you to those new additions Susanne, there always will be some flaws in models, when it is not the mould, then it can be the painting....
I will have the German shepherd and collie to very soon.
The basset is a nice personality!

I think, it lasted about 25-30 years, before people here started to call the Scottish roughhair collie what it really was, they all called them a "Lassie dog" to...

I found a nice lot of Papo dogs in the last weeks, and i had them in last week...
One is a Schleich dog, which i had already, but he is a slight variation, s he is made in China to, but earlier as mine, because the writing underneath is different, the one i had had the latest text with Schäbisch Gmund under it, the one that came in not, and is slightly differently painted to.

Yes, Papo makes great dogs to indeed, and the collie is really looking good, but the English setter and greyhound are very nice to!
