Wisent Repaint

Our friend "PeGe" recently sent me the Schleich Wisent to repaint - so over the weekend I painted him.
I based the colours from this image - but maybe the colours are too dark?

Are you sure it's a Schleich wisent? I looks so much better!
The wisent on a photo is quite dark, but I've seen quite a lot of wisents (in zoos) and I think this shade is acceptable
I would just darken skin on nose a bit. I'd also add some gloss on nose, all bovines have wet skin between nostrils :)

Harriet, your European bison is beautifully painted,
the face and nostrils are impeccably painted!

It's wonderful Harriet.
I think the dark colour is fine. I really like the work you had make with the head. The eyes, the horns and the nose are very well painted
Another think we can see with the picture vs the Schleich model is that the head, as often happens with Schleich, is too big

Thanks everyone Glad you like the colour - I thought it would be a nice change from the usual light sandy colour of the original Wisent - and I just loved the richness of colours in that real photograph I posted.

I don´t think the color is too dark; I´ve seen several dark bisons and I like them a lot :)

Too dark or not is not the question indeed : You gave it a lot of personnality.

Harriet it is just fabulous ! I LOVE the new painting, - and yes, I also hope Schleich sees it. It looks alive now and not like a plastic model

Moral of the story is, sometimes "we" just gotta repaint to improve our figures,
because the toy companies just didn't do it right!
