This is a rare species of Great White Robert, its a Sail Fin Great White.
When they have had a busy day chasing this and that unfortunate creature they quite often get very tired. Sleep
So they simply rise to the surface and when the wind catches their Dorsal fin they can cruise quite happily along with no effort at all. Laughing
Only don't tell anyone or there will be Sail Fin Great Whites in every corner shop! Wink pirat

Or it could be just the camera angle question Very Happy

It is hard to make a realistic looking figure of a Great White, because Great Whites look unreal to start with!

This is a very nice figure, but i think he'd look better if his paint job were more nuanced. His SOLID GRAY on top and SOLID WHITE on the bottom with a crisp line between the colors, the paint job does not look alive.
Sharks usually have some pink around their lower snouts, and a grayish cast under their white, and even if their top parts are all one unvarying gray (i doubt they are, but if they are) they still don't look one solid color.
It's very hard to paint a smooth slick skinned animal realistically, especially one who is normally seen underwater, where water blurs the sharpness or casts shadows and colors.

Coming up with a good paint job for him will be very hard, but worth it, to make him a Shark, instead of a shark-shaped piece of plastic.

It's nice white shark! I love the colour and many had mentioned that is not easy to make a white shark look realistic. But this one is ok! Susanne saying it's scary. But I find him cute!! Laughing Laughing

I think some light pink colour below the jaw would brighten it up. And some lighter gray in toward the eyes can be better!

I really like the shape of the whales body tails and fins, but I agree with Ken Yeo that this shark looks too cute! I do not find it scary and it almost looks like it smiling. "Perhaps it is smiling before it eats it next seal or human swimming in the ocean.

Thanks for posting Egbert! Very Happy I know you love hsarks! pirat Wink
Interesting suggestions again and interesting work Ken! sunny
Martin, Ken changed the shading, you can see around the dorsal fin a darker colouring and also behind the eye a lighter grey, I guess! Laughing
I think it is to give a less solide colour to the animal. I like it! :)
We need a classic picture of a shark, in a side view but seeing the ventral part. :)

I hope some day Roger that man loses the need to kill everything he is afraid of!
Sharks suffer some of the worst outrages, especially from the Asia regions where they are in huge demand for Shark Fin soup!

The sharks are caught in nets, stripped of their fins and then thrown back in the Sea alive, where they drowned!
Personally I admire and respect these magnificent predators, like Crocodiles they are almost perfect in terms of evolution and have remained much as they are for thousands of years.

Perhaps one of the reason's that Mojo tries not to depict predators such as the Hyena, Lion, Shark etc., as vicious and ferocious is because this just perpetuates man's fear of these animals and so in some small way could also hasten their end.
We all know that Hyena's and other such animals need to kill to live but there is no need to make people in general think that this is all they are about.
They all have a much gentler side, also if you look hard enough most animals have a particular movement or gesture that make you recognize something about that species in the figure. So really their is no need to show every predator with teeth showing and claws out
I for one hope that Mojo will not only consider the collectors and consumer but also take time to consider the animal itself, i think they have a responsibility to do this.

Sorry for my rant! But i feel better now! tongue pirat

Egbert, great great comment! cheers
I love the serenety of Mojo hunters, I'm a big fan of Mojo hyena and lion as everybody knows here! All animals are graceful and should be respected, of course! :)
But more than the wonderful Mojo figures, I love Mojo philosophy!!! cheers Wink

Hear, hear, Egbert!

I like that Mojo thinks beyond stereotypes. Some companies seem to think that every hippo is yawning, every elephant is trumpeting, every mustang is rearing, and every okapi has its tongue in its ear.

Nice white shark!
Maybe he has some little flaws, but he is quit ok...

Susanne, you would not even like to know where white sharks do live, in most cold waters around the world.
They are often seen around our countries, and there are lots of them in the Mediterranean, as there are seals, dolphins and whales to feed on!

The teeth are big indeed Vivian, but just look at those of the extinct Megalodon, the ancestor of the white shark, and start thinking how big he was... Shocked affraid

Only one tooth of an adult Megalodon...

Scale comparison

Here you can see, that the Megalodon could easily eat white sharks for breakfast...

Hmm, making a too cute figurine isn' t the only alternative to create evil monsters. The head looks a little like this fascinating giant:
http://www.geo.de/GEO/natur/tierwelt/64438.html
The scene with the seal in it's mouth is one of the most impressive moments in an animal documentary for a very long time for me btw..
Back to mojo Jaws:
i think it's very difficult to do the teeth, mojo ssemed to fail in my opinion, papo did the best teeth, but the coloration was worse. at least ehen rating the modification by ken.

hey, i just returned from a shop where they had this model available. I was a little disappointed as it came out very toyish and rounded, no alternative to papo, maybe even schleich and of course safari monterey bay.
I didn't take any pics and this is just my opinion, maybe other collectors like the "cute" great white.

I would love to see pictures from anyone who will get it. I remember that figures was made with huge enthusiasm, it is a shame that it is not nice enough for you as someone that like sea life figures. However collecting is like this. Half year after official date release, not bad for a recent brand. I continue waiting for Papo and CollectA 2012 figures here. Sleep Very Happy

hey Rogério,
thank you for your pleasant answer. From time to time, i could think you feel personally offended when someone doesn't like a Mojo figurine Wink
You have to see the real sculpt, not pictures to see that the body is shaped like a grain of rice. This looks like a bloated specimen. With sharp teeth of course.,........
Btw: even Mojo can do some not entirely good figurines Very Happy Wink did you ever take a look at the seal?,...

Philipp, reading again my comment I don't know why you think I am offended? First I wanted to show that your comment was not ignored although the topic is already somewhat old. Then, I don't know the figure so what I feel is only a little disappointment, not with you, of course. Remember when you helped me to find the Papo oryx? You asked me why I wanted that figure. You were right, when I got it I felt somewhat disappointed too. Why? Because I always have huge expectations from Papo and the same happens with Mojo. Maybe if the oryx was from another brand I would feel it was nicer.
I am not even disagreeing with you but I understand why some people think there is a Mojo thing on me. It would be perfectly natural as long as there are 2 friends working there. But I try always to be fair, and sealife is definitively a subject I am not confortable with. IF I discuss it is to try to learn more about it. Check * here * where recently I am trying to discuss a CollectA sealife figure with 2 collectors much more knowledgeable than me. Unfortunately my comment is so silly that I haven't deserved a reply, not even someone saying that sometimes I feel offended when someone doesn't like a CollectA figure. :)

hey Rogério,
thank you for sour answer. I've never thought about "posting empathy" or disappointment because of ignored postings.
But when i imagine how someone would author him or herself,
your phrases are a good example. So sorry for misinterpretation!
Concerning your walrus: you're right. Concerning unanswered posts: i don't know why this happens,it just does....from time to time.

Unanswered posts are normal things in a forum with activity similar to this one. Although I give a lot of time to the forum, I also miss many posts for sure. :)
About the taste of my answer, it is exactly as the taste of some figures.
Sometimes, the same food has a good taste and a bad taste. If we are hungry it tastes good for sure. If we are angry it will taste bad. I hope you'll not thinking I'm saying you're angry or hungry. When we are happy and well-fed even the good food loose importance. pig
Thanks for your agreement about the walrus. It is important for me to read opinions like yours. cheers
