Maybe you are right Ana, but both things are so different, culture and nature...
I think not seeing the pyramids when you are there, would be the same as not seeing the Eiffeltower when you go to Paris...
But i would surely go to the red sea of course, because i snorkled and dived a lot in my life, on a lot of places around the world.
Those are experiences you never forget! cheers

I have both little antelopes Andreas, and yours to, haha... Wink
I just wanted to congrat both of you on the new additions. Laughing
By the way, great booklett you have there.
I saw 3 of the Schleich corallfishes on the topcover on short notice, great pics for determination! Very Happy

I had the great chance to visit Egypt 20 years ago. At that time, it was still possible to go inside the pyramid.

This is something I will always remember drunken

I want to also share my group of antelopes and gazelles. As you may notice, some are recustomized, repainted or have missing horns--I have used parts of others to create my own antelope if it does not exist. For example, on the far right of the photo is a male and female Schleich Roe deer made into african bushbucks (still not accepting of the male's horns). I have another female I made. I tired my best to make the tessessby calf look like a topi w/ horns but not working for me...(located in far-left back). I had a Papo Gnu but traded it. Also, many customized animals from Ana and Harriet are also part of the mix:D . And many of my antelopes/gazelles number many as they are herd species (Tommies, Gnu, kudu). I am excited too to add on the new 2012 brands to this collection: All the new sables (multiples of the CollectA female), CollectA Waterbuck, Eland, Mojo male tommy (multiple) and depending on its size, Papo's Oryx. I also hope to add two custom made topis, Ana's and Harriet's Nyalas (do not like Noah's Pals Mountain Naylas, far-left side last picture), and Ana's famous Bongo (please Ana!!!!cheers cheers cheers ). With all these hoofed animals in my diorama, I hope I have room for the others! lol! All animals here will not make it to the diorama.Crying or Very sad

Yup, those are Harriet's creations--the impalas are wonderful. Thanks for the kind words and I am excited to add the 2012 antelopes to my collections. Sorry Jarda you are offended by my recustomizing or repainting, but I typically have more than one of the antelopes I use parts from.

Hey Christophe, i hope when you decide to go there again, you won't be there in Egyptian clothes, otherwise they think that one of the great Farao's stood up again, haha... Laughing geek lol!

A shame that you can go inside again anymore, but since human breath tears down the ancient drawings and stones slowly, it is better... scratch farao

Thanks everyone, I am proud to own them but except for the repaint of the impala and the two yellow backed duiker I can take no credit other then the fact that I asked Ana and Harriet to either make them for me or send me a copy of a figure they have already produced so I give all of the credit to them, they deserve all of the praise!

Vivian, I love them all but the bontebok are my favorites as well, after that I can't put an order to them, I love the gerenuk and Nile lechwe but nilgai are not only fantastic figures they are among my favorite species of antelope, so hard to choose a favorite among all of them.

Hey!

I do not want you to worry about, but which have signed photo "tsessebe" This is a big mistake! Mad
These are not tsessebe antelope, just Topi! exclamation
Tsessebe do not have the arrangement of horns, but you will not have such clearly marked dark spots on the legs .. Suspect

I think it tsessebe not only Topi. Very Happy

First, i took over the name on the model, because it is marked as tsessabee.
Secondly, i do have very good books and posters, mostly scientific, in which the complete topi/hartebeast-family is pictured.
The topi and tsessabee, are just sub-species, but both very very similar, even the dark markings on the legs.
I think, and would not wonder if there are some forms between those 2 named antelopes to, so where is the border?
I, for myself, do look at my models very accurate, and with an scientific eye, and make a judgement for myself, which animal this model does resamble the best.
But nobody has to agree with that of course.

I do have more then 40 fishtanks at home, and i do a lot of different things in this field.
I had a cichlidmale with 3 females of his own kind(Cryptoheros nigrofasciatus) and subspecies in a bigger tank, together with a female fish from another species(Cryptoheros septemfasciatum), but the same genera.
Still the male of the first species did prefer the female of the other species, although the first one was from Panama, and the second from Costa Rica, not exactly close to eachother.
DNA showed already that they are related of course, but to far to be the same species.
Normally they could interbreed, but not have young, or fertile young.
Same like a tiger and lion, or horse and donkey for example.
But still nature found a way, because some people bought these mixed-fish from me, and the had offspring to, so where is the very thin line, of what is a species or not...
Even with very different DNA, some species are able to interbreed with species that are even further away in DNA, or natural distance.
Some species do not change a lot in evolution, even when separated through time and natural obstacles, and still have very similar genes. With this story i wanted to show you, to think about the differences between topi and tsessabee, because i guarantee you, that they can interbreed, and will have fertile young, so are they really different then?
But ok, they are just subspecies anyway...
The Topi is Damaliscus lunatus topi, and the tsessabee is Damaliscus lunatus lunatus... Rolling Eyes

I am animal-crazy since i was six years young, and did almost nothing else then watching tv-series about animals, read books about animals, study them, and tried to see them in zoo's or in the wild if possible.
And i still do today, as i am almost 50 now...
My judgement is not always good of course, but mostly it is, only by experience... Very Happy

Topi and SASsaby may not cross, because there are in the same area. Laughing
Topi tilde those living east of Africa, and tsessebes in South Africa.
Meuse that have very different looks, and I can perfectly see them as more interested than you apparently ... horns are completely different, even physique! Belong to the same family, but are a separate species, a figure Bullyland tsessebe not only Topi. Very Happy

Yours! sunny
