Animal models from India

We want the new model animals to become more and more realistic every year.
And we become more and more critical.
Is the paintwork correct?
Is the pose of the animal interesting?
Does the scale fit my dioramas?
Or, - HELP! Does the paint peel ?

If we go back in time, some children were privileged and had models to play with like Lineol, Starlux, Elastolin and others that may nowadays bring huge sums at auctions for adults.

But there have also been other very much loved models.
Like here in Denmark where we only had Reisler, in Eastern Europe where VEB-Plaho was the only choice, and of course also in other countries.

I love those models very much, and now I have been so fortunate that Ezhilan has searched in his cupboards and has sent me some of the models from his childhood in India





The largest ones , Rhino and bison, are hollow, a good way to save material and resourses, - like the Plaho models that were often made from the colour of plastic that was available


A great detail : The little tapir has not been painted, - the white material is moulded on.
NO risk of peeling there

It is nice to discuss the quality of figures, mainly those from modern brands! We enjoy, learn, and have the chance of having more informative and educational figures! :)
Of course it is also nice to see other figures, from various places of the world, different years and even different quality! :)
Obviously I enjoy to see that Indian figures and I also enjoy to see that Hausser Elastolin was not the only one making an Indian rhino with 2 horns! I'm sure your rhino is not angry with me, I hope, because 2 horns are always more dangerous than only one!

Lovely old 1970's figurines Susanne, thanks to Ezhilan!
The camel and cow are Britains copies.
But the Malayan tapir is very interesting!
I never saw this model before, although i think, that the Britains model was more or less the example for this one, but this one is different, and very nice IMHO!

If the Brazilian and Argentinian figures are already unbelievable...now come the Indian ones that we don't even know what they are!
Could we place in a topic all the images of figures made in India please? I think I am totally lost in this!
And the great thing about these figures is to surprise us with unpublished molds like the rhino, the bison and the tapir!
