Yeah, the high demand for antelope figures is the obvious reason #1. And Schleich hadn't offered any for several years.

Roger, I like your ideas a lot. I don't know what is going on at Schleich, but from an established brand they're turning into a JOKE (at least in my eyes)!

they have a new owner

I noticed a couple of days ago that Schleich have REMOVED the list of all models retiring at the end of this year. This is odd. Also each model that was due to be retired was tagged in a grey colour such as the trees etc but now all those tags have also been removed from the listing of each model!

Could it be that they have retracted the list and are reconsidering what animals to delete? Or perhaps someone on the Schleich website listed the wrong models?

To give you an example about the grey tag on each individual model listing look at the example below of the old indian elephant bull below - it is tagged in a grey colour indicated it is retired or retiring:

Now look at the listing of the Fighter elephant which was also tagged in grey up until a few days ago and now that has been removed:

How odd is this?

Maybe schleich go to let some models like new heros or animals.

No, you are right. Schleich is working on theyr website to make it more international. That's why the Collector's Items are not there anymore. I e-mailed them two weeks ago. But no Collector's items will change.

I'm very interested how schleich gets the knights back, because only the dragon knights are to less. There must be more, because two complete series are going. Knights and new heroes.

I'm still confused with the badger being retired and the babies staying on catalogue.
I thought it would be only repainted but once we already know 2013 releases I believe it could be a mistake. Following Schleich strategy, retiring less known species, I think it would be more obvious if inspite of the badger it was the wolverine. It has no babies, is an unusual animal for Schleich standards and Mojo and Safari released them recently. I really don't understand, after the famous adopted Emperor penguin chicks, now it is time for badger kits orphans... :)

Maybe Schleich isn't satisfied with the quality of this figurine? To be more exact, maybe because of an awkward painting the badger doesn't sell well?
