| Personally for wild animal figures, I would say Papo lions(King of Jungle, lioness, & lioness w/cub), tigers(tiger, white tiger, & tigress w/cub), leopards, cheetah, nile crocodile, hippo(adult), hippo calf, gorilla, giraffe(08'), giraffe calf(09'), black bear, komodo dragon, African buffalo, American buffalo, kudu, black rhino(*if only bigger would be perfect), wildebeest, ostrich, and moose compared to other companies(and the other companies version of those figures mentioned) are the best! Just want to mention, Safari LTD's Wildlife Wonders Orang is an awesome figure(too bad Asian Elephant is not bigger, because it's a very nice figure as well!). |

| I agree with you on a lot of those. Only I've never really liked the Papo Giraffes. I think their legs are slightly odd looking, but I love the adult's face. Papo black bear I've never seen in real life, but I love the Schleich black bear. I think myself, that the retired Schleich Water Buffalo was the best out of those two. But I agree with all the others. I too think the Wildlife Wonders Orangutan is amazing and I'm really looking forward to the 2011 Okapi |

Last year they brought out, was it two new figurines? Orang-utan and Asian elephant. It must be expensive making them, so they only bring out a small number each year. Next year they have of course the Okapi. I'd love to have the Asian elephant and I'll certainly get the Okapi! |

| I'm agreeing too with Baltimore Zoo, in wild life Papo is the best in a lot of species but as Harriete said I have some doubt with the giraffes. American buffalo it's the same of American bison and there's a very nice from CollectA, but the Schleich that Harriete is talking is another species, the Asian or water Buffalo and the Papo is an African or cape buffalo, we should compare the Papo with the CollectA. :) |

So compared with the Papo Cape Buffalo I prefer the Schleich. We talked about the American Bisons in another thread, about which one is best, Papo, Schleich or CollectA. |

Cape and water buffalos are very similar. According to Schleich the retired iten was a Cape Buffalo. I never saw it before in real so I have no oppinion about.

But is identified as water!!! Maybe a long time ago it was discussed or maybe I'm wrong??? |

No Schleich waterbuffalo Harriet, but a Cape buffalo. Very nice, chubby but for a Cape buffalo it's not a big problem... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And with the PAPO and SAFARI... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Three collectors means at least three point of view, The SCHLEICH is the one I like the less in this batch

It's hooves stick out too far, making it look like his ankles might break if you see what I mean? They just look odd to me, but I like his face and colouring. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The Schleich one does it a bit too, but look at the front legs in the real picture, they are straight, they don't curve outwards at all. |

| Of the 3 Cape buffalos, when seen together, the Papo's the most realistic and artistic. |

| I too like the Papo one best. It is the one with the birds on its back and the grass in the mouth right? I am seeing more and more Papo that I really like as others have said the tigress with the cub in her mouth is so beautiful! I will be looking for some Papo to add to my collection for sure! ~ Sue |

| Thank you for the individual photos Torben. I got confused...I guess I like the Safari best...it has the little birds..but sometimes the legs don't look right on their animals........

| For the time, the Lineol figures look amazing and still hold up well by today's figure standards! I think back then as with a lot of things, more passion was put into the craftsmanship of the product, making it look better than some things produced today! Of course today with different technologies, things in general can be made better but because mass produced the passion's not there quite as much. I understand it's all about consumer demand and making money! But, personally, that's why I prefer Papo, because I feel their artists/sculptors maybe seem a little more passionate about their overall product(a throw back to the Lioneol and Britains)! I think Schleich is more about pumping out the product and less on quality. Example, movies, I rather see an actor in the alien suit from Ridley Scott's Alien than any CGI(computer generated image) character in any of today's movies!
