This is the west and north walls of my horse room back in 2006.  The  shelf to the left of the purple cone light contains about 1/3 of my  Noah's Ark collection, all of which now resides in several drawers so I  could use the shelf for model horses.

Made a slight mistake in the first photo; should have read the "west and north walls." This photo has the other half of the north wall and the east wall. Many of these horses have been moved to other shelves. The messy lower sections were due to stuff from elsewhere in our house having been dumped in my horse room.


The white cube has a random assortment of equines.  The brown unit underneath is a tea cart.  The top shelves slide out.  The topmost shelf has Breyer Stablemates and Stone Chips while the lower shelf has 7" & 5" Hartlands.


This is a factory-painted metal Britains LTD Wild Horse.  I bought it at an antique store.



Our city library has a lockable display case near the main desk.  I've had lots of different displays in the case over the years.  This one was titled "Decorative Horses".  My husband carefully took multiple photos of each level, so if you want to see all 18, I'll send them.


In 2008 I had most of the animals from my Noah's Ark collection in the library case.  This photo is of the bottom shelf and part of the middle shelf.


This is the middle shelf of the Noah's Ark collection display.  As you can see, the animals are not all of the same scale.  Didn't bother me as all I wanted was as many different species as I could find!

Jennypur, we surely needed to see your collection. It is just impressive and it may be outdated as I could understand. Unfortunately it is not easy for me to see exactly what these shelves show but the Noah's part is surely very interesting.
I want also to thanks the effort of Yvette helping while uploading all these pictures on forum.
Jenny, you surely, as an experienced collector, have a lot to contribute to this community!

The shelves in my horse room are now packed full.  I really need to take new photos!  There's equines on the shelves above my computer, equines in my kitchen window, a 4-shelf china cabinet behind me containing most of my china/ceramic/porcelain equines and multiple shelves in our living room with, you guessed it, horses!  Most of the ones in the living room are mine, but the Breyer Wintersong conga belongs to my husband.  (Yes, I do have a photo of them ... somewhere).  

Oh, and I can't forget our dining room chandelier.  We removed all the glass drops and hung equine ornaments on it.  I know I have a photo of the chandelier; when I find it, I'll email the photo to Yvette.

I say "equines" because there's mules, zebras, donkeys, unicorns and pegasi in the collection.  

And I have lots and lots of toy horses!  I prefer the old ones - Marx, Stuart Toys, some older Schleichs, Auburn Rubber, Ideal, Lido, MPC, Timmee, Archer, REL, and Bergan,  Most of them are kept in drawers in my horse room.  I've sorted them by no tack, only a halter or saddle, and full tack.

It sounds like you have the collector's gene in full blaze

No, actually in the model horse hobby it's called a "Black Hole".  This usually means nothing escapes but I have sold or given away some of my horses.  In fact, I'm beginning to consider thinning the toy collection down to only the ones I particularly love.  It's due to my not getting any younger and I'm worried our executor might not know how to handle disposing of the old toys.  I don't want her to do what her mom did when we were cleaning out our parents' house - if no-one in the family wants it, throw it in the trash!

Hi, your collection looks sort of familiar and I can imagine how it has grown since you took the photos. My walls are also covered with shelves and I don't want to think about what's gone happen to those thousands of horses when I'm no longer around. Unfortunately there is no fellow collector who could inherit them and my brother has no clue what's what.

A few of years ago a friend gave me a gift - a wonderful book titled "Your Model Horse Collection Reference Guide, 2014 edition" by Kristin Chernoff.   I'm slowly making my way through the book, marking the pages of Breyers, Stones, Hartlands, etc.  in my collection.  (Doesn't help when Breyer keeps bringing out new molds!)

I'm fairly sure my niece will know what to do with the models (she collects them too); it's the toys I'm most worried about.  Many of them are older than she is and she's 52.

I like the black hole metaphore ... that's the event horizon fault. About your old toys, if you can't find anyone to keep, collect and love it, I think giving it to a toy museum is a good idea. There are some in my country, often small and not very successful but they are pictoresque. I also believe you can find them on Tennessee, googling I've found the Nashville that I am not sure is still working but, I think it is better that you think how to keep enjoying your hobby and pieces because life is what is important and the best way to avoid the deep black hole is to keep alive and enjoying!

There used to be a Marx Toys museum in West Virginia, but it closed 2 years ago.  There is a huge toy museum in Branson, Missouri but I'm not sure if they take donations of vintage plastic toy horses.  I will ask though.  If they don't, then I'll have to start sorting in order to sell the vast majority of the oldies.  I know people collect them; I even know a few people who sell them online.  Makes me sad, but it's better than having them thrown in the trash.
