Hello, friends! This is my most first collection of animal figurines. In distant 1973 I was 7 years old and I exchanged figurines two indians for figurine brown bear produced in GDR (German Democratic Republic). Laughing Laughing It was my first animal model, (you can see it in the centre of round display). Then were african elephant and wild boar with piglets produced in GDR too. I have continued my expirince of exchangeds and soon I had some dozens figurines from GDR. Wink Wink By the way the most of those models from my childhood was "made in GDR". (They has brought over here by childrens of the officers of soviet troops in Germany). Later has appeared some small models of Poland and some from China... At that time the models from GDR were amazing animals miniatures for me... Laughing The scale those models was not great... Then in 2000 (in adult age) I have got to know with the models of Schleich! And I began to form my collection over again with new Schlech,s scale. Only some figurines from my first collection remained now in my exposition (brown bear, wild boars, african elephant, baboons). The most part be in a cupboard as "unscale". But this models very dearest for me. They introduced me to "world of animals models"!!! But I did,nt see everything from models by GDR! So help me please, my friends (especially Torben, Kiki and Willy)! Show me another animals models "made in GDR"!!! Wink Wink Wink

Oh SergeyI know that Willy is a great collector with 72 years of collecting, but you don't know how long am I collecting... pay attention... 73... days!!! Isn't it fantastic!!! And I know perfectly GDR animals... when I was a boy someone told me that a huge collector from S. Petersburg were collecting it... it's hard to remember but I think that his name is... Sergey... or not?

Thanks for showing us your collection! I still treasure my Britian's Zoo and Farm animals(still dearest to me too, despite my love for Papo), so I know how you feel (since you said they also introduced you to animal figure collecting!).

I recognize some of these old models too - they look like my first animal figures in the 80s.
Although, I think those models I had were "Made in Poland" copies of the DDR stuff. They were sold in toy shops in Kiev, so in the 80s there was already no need in the childen of the officers of Soviet troops in Germany :))

I can recognise some VEB PLAHO from RDA "République démocratique d'Allemagne" Wink

VEB PLAHO produced some LINEOL plastic copies in the 1970's. They were smaller than the originals. The wild boar, walking polar bear and cub, donkey, bison, seal, brown bear with calf (not the bigger one), lions and tigers on your pics for example. Some were original models, like the elephant with calf, the rhino, the hippopotamus and the camels...
Some models on your pics are not VEB PLAHO and looked like Hong-Kong copies of Britains and others animals.

Willy has got a lot of pics on his CQ website and I'm sure you could find there a lot of your models Very Happy .

There is a lot of place in my heart for all these vintage models I love you

It,s really some models (indian rhinos, little monkeys, black jaguars, pangolin) is Hong-Kong copies of Britains and others animals. Very Happy Some models it,s small animals-set by brand "New Ray" (koala, white anteater, big polar bear, jaguar). Some models is china uknown copies (two cheetahs, gorillas, hyena-dog, antilope). Some models it,s polish copies from GDR-models??? (lioness,armadillo, aardvark, kangaroo, dromedary,polar bear femail). Only one model - black bear (which liked here my friends) is "unformat" and "unbrand' ceramic model! Wink Wink But the most part of those figurines is my lovely "GDR-models"... This is VEB PLAHO from RDA (LINEOL copies?) ? I have,nt knew about it. But now I can looking for some information on websites (because I,m interesting another models). Thanks, Cristophe! In one of the pictures I see a little Pangolin. I think I have the same, - made in Hong Kong. I have not seen other Pangolins-figueres, maybe others have ? I will take pictures tomorrow, right now it is Sleep -time Wink

There's pangolins in Willy, Mihnea, Christophe and Fernando? collections, too!!!
It's a very nice creature! I hope someday we will have a pangolin not has huge has Safari one!:)
