| Greetings all, I've finally gotten around to making Ramu. She was an elephant who was in the 1971 Bollywood film Haathi Mere Saathi. Like I said in my earlier post, I really wanted to make her. She was the first elephant I had ever seen and she made me fall for these magnificent animals. I was three when I saw the movie. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]She was a smaller, more slender elephant perhaps because she was young when the film was made. Sorry about the quality, but I actually had to take those photos of the movie so that I had something to follow. Here is Ramu! Hopefully I've done full justice to her. She is a very special elephant. | Thanks everyone! I've actually made some modifications on the sculpture. I've added to the hindquarters of Ramu to make her more anatomically correct. I've also added to the hind legs to make them more correct as well. You all should be able to see that the elephant is better proportioned in the back now when you compare with the previous pictures. I want her to be perfect. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Painting shall commence soon! _________________ Please visit my page at www.artpal.com/coomarwildlife

| Excelent paintwork, I think she doesn't need a bell but I understand it turns her more recognizable. |

Actually I learned how thanks to Andrew. Use plastic canvas sting and the Fast Grab tacky glue (see pic). You should be able to find them at your local craft store. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Separate and straighten out the strands and cut them. Using a pair of tweezers, take a bunch of sting, dab it in the glue, and attach them to the tail. If you are sealing your model with sealant, be sure to attach the hairs AFTER the sealant is applied. |

| Also, here are some pictures of Ramu now that she's complete. I added the bell and string, as well as the four strands of colored cloth that she had in the film. She is a 1:18 scaled model and stands at about 4.5 inches or 11.4 cm. I am really excited about this model because as I said earlier she was the first elephant I had ever seen. It was great to finally be able to capture her as she was in the film! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
