My VEB Plaho Collection from the former DDR(GDR)

Here is my collection of this brand so far.
Not all of the pics are very good in quality, as i made them log time ago, and i don't have a good digital cam.
I still miss a lot of them, and there are many variations, but ok, i do my best to complete them...
When 2 items have the same production-number, it means that they are sold together in a set.

The sheep family was made in 3 sizes, from which the biggest were used for Christmas kribs.

Here is part 3 of this collection.
I noticed when i was doing this, that there are models with the same production numbers, but not from the same sets, which wonders me too, so i have to ask the seller of this catalogue about this...

Some models are really worn off, but believe me, that those are models which are very hard to find in any condition anyway...
Models with antlers like roebucks, red deer, chamois and ibex are hard to find with those antlers too, specially un-harmed.
But i guess, when you are from the eastern part of Europe, this was or even is easier.
Like i said somewhere before, the Marolin company is still making a lot of these models, and even some, which VEB Plaho never reached to produce, because the factory closed when the Berlin-wall fell...
The models are exactly the same, only much newer of course, and in better condition and better paintings.
But sometimes, an good eye is needed to see the differences between them...

It has a high number because it was sold together with a forrester, so not in all of the series before.

101 Moose cow, which was a VEB Plaho mold, but never came into production before, so Marolin made them afterwards.

Then i have these fowl-figurines, which were sold to me as VEB Plaho, but they are in a much bigger scale, and would even fit with Schleich, but it could be true, i don't know...
But that they were made in the former DDR, of that i am sure!

Brown Bear, produced by DDR company K.Fischer KG, but made for VEB Plaho, who used this Black Bear in their Western-/Indian Sets.

Yes, i guess it is the only South-American tapir in the business so far strangely enough...
Although they grey colour doesn't resamble the right colour in real, it is not a Malayan tapir for sure!

By the way, some soutAmerican tapirs were made in composition in Germany. Even some models were painted brown or black and white but with the right American tapir shape.

I like the different positions of the big cats! It would be cool to paint/touch some of the figures up to update them.
The 01779 African elephant calf is really an Asian(hump back, small ears and one finger on end of trunk).

Such a fantastic collection Willy, the Roe deer are really lovely!

Yes, all the different positions and good deetails are coming from the Lineol models...
It was be a shame to get these old guys out of their vintage jacket, but everybody has its preferences, isn't it?

I think you are right Baltimore...
I guess Plaho took the Asian elephant calf from Lineol to make this baby elephant, i recognised it too, but as it was the only elephant bay, it was ment to be with the adult African elephant...

Llamas are nice too young, I rely on Safari for the year 2012, a baby llama or guanaco lying, he is one in their Toob (farm animals)

Yes Susanne, thats true, but that is the case with all of your models, isn't it...
I counted quickly 164 Plaho's, on average i paid 3 euro's a piece for them, which is not bad, because there are some rare items between them.
Just count your Schleichs, and the average price you paid for them ,you will be shocked i guess...
By the way, you still didn't send your adress to me, so the package is still here...

WOW! Willy, some really nice figures. My favorites are the elephant seal the whitenose meercat (that is not the English name but still 2 great figures) and the rhesus monkey sitting. Keep posting when you get new ones!!!

The fowl is not from the VEB Plaho, but from the PGH Effelder (also former GDR).
