| We have seven plastic and composition Yaks in our herd, each one by a different maker. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Elastolin composition on the left and a hollow, waxy plastic Yak by Miller of Illinois on the right. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Two composition Yaks. On the left, Lineol and on the right, NF of Italy. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Also in composition, Tipple-Topple Yak (left) and a Durolin Yak (right). The late-production Durolin Yak was originally sold without the horns, which are a later addition. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Schleich plastic Yak with the Elastolin Yak from the first pictire. Sue & Lesley castlerigg |

| Hi, Susanne!
'm sorry, I don't know the Danish, but I think the German is "aus masse". An animal made of "composition" is made with a mixture of sawdust, glue, maybe some plaster-of-Paris, and perhaps a few secret ingredients. I know that Elastolin and Tipple-Topple used a lot of sawdust in the mix, while Lineol included waste products from a nearby linoleum factory!

Thank very much, Lesley I learn so much on this forum. I don`t know if there is a Danish word for it, but I have much better idea of it now. Wow, so they did some very, very smart re-cykling then, the concept was not even invented then, I think. And that is why it is called Lineol |

Me too! Never thought there could exist such a variety of yak models. In fact, Schleich yak was the first yak figurine I've ever seen. _________________ Owners of miniature zoos on shelves, unite! My collector's blog

| Lovely yaks! They're one of my favorite types of cattle, but so far I only have the Schleich version. |

| Almost 5 years later ....The grey--purple-black NF yak is not from Italy, - it is Danish and made by Neo-Form |
