| On Friday of last week I got a wonderful surprise, my 3-D Indian elephants from Shapeways arrived! Andrew did such a fantastic job on them and the printing in vinyl was flawless, detail was great, there are no complaints for the figures. They arrived white and dusty, here is the pair right after I opened the box. Sorry for the focus, the camera did not want to facts on the elephants, but rather anything else, so I had to focus on the railing.   I am working on a small shadowbox that will be for the forest buffalo pair by Harriet and Ana but it made a perfect stand in for the pair. These are just painted with primers I still have to put the detail and final paint on but I've got lots of time to finish up!   These guys are looking pretty good, I just have to put the finishing paint on and I'm done! Let me know what you think, Phil |

| Those look wonderful! I like the shadow box as well. I've never ordered anything that large from Shapeways before, how flexible is "white strong and flexible" in this size? |

I find that "White Strong and Flexible" is not really that flexible it is overall pretty stiff. Larger masses such as the body and legs are very solid but if you were to flex the tail it would move a little bit. I do like the fact that thin parts like tails do have a little bit of flex so they wont snap off right away if they are under pressure. - Kikimalou wrote:

| Congrats with Andrew's models! I love his style of detail. It stood out great with even only the primer! Curious how it'll looks like when you finished this models and place them in your diorama!

I do have plans to buy the bull, first I am going to get another calf and two more cows. Andrew is going to change them a little so each one is an individual and not just copies of the same elephant so my herd has a much better look on the diorama. On the bull, he will be the last one added, I have two different ideas for him, both scenes I have brought to Andrew for his opinion and when I have made my decision on which one I will use there will be a post with photos, it will probably be in March or April depending on time to design the pose in the computer. |
