Subject: What would you like to see Kaiyodo produce? Sun Apr 20, 2014 5:49 pm
An amazing company, the chief complaint I hear leveled against it is avoidance of foreign (non-Japanese) subjects and redundancy of native subjects.
One of its nifty attributes is its innovation--representing so many taxonomic groups, showing species interacting with others, in flight or swimming, with water backgrounds, etc.
While I hope to see more worldwide species represented--not sure why the Amazing Animals set wasn't repeated--one thing I always thought would be very cool to see is a set of all or mostly one species, with bases that fit together to form a diorama. A dozen zebra forming a heard, for instance, maybe with a wildebeest as a secret. Same with a school of reef fish, thought that would be a trickier bit of design/engineering.
Anyone else? A list of a dozen or so species you'd like to see (I'll post mine shortly.) or something else design or theme or otherwise?
Brett If you didn't see my other posts, the microscopic animal set just released and the prehistoric marine animal set releases in July. Will update re: the others.

No, Andreas. The topic is just for fun.
My dozen (that I'd like to see made either for the first time, or a better version (African lion), or a non-captive version (hippopotamus, giraffe)):
musk ox African elephant hippopotamus bison sable antelope (and kudu and oryx...) African lion giraffe (lots more big mammals in general) striped skunk nine-banded armadillo Eastern box turtle one of the cowries (and more mollusks in general) one of the sea urchins (odd how the company mostly avoids echinoderms)
And generally speaking I'd like to see more prehistoric mammals and see the sculptors do better by birds.

I wish of every brand more unusual species but i think Kaiyodo do that for me. But species like a bush dog and other small mammals or a bird of paradise and more monkeys and antelopes would be very very phantastic

For the longest time I'd been pining for microscopic life by one of the gashapon producers (they're really the only companies I can conceive doing a good job of depicting such delicate, translucent organisms), and lo - now there are the Kaiyodo and Takara sets! But, since those two are so sweet and I both trite and greedy, I'm still wishing for plankton sets to add to these.
Other than that, I'd be thrilled to bits by embryo and fish/crustacean larvae sets. Or more Siluriformes. Or stygofauna.

More fishes. That is all I have to say on that (to expand--better eel variety; non-aussie lungfish; different arowanas...I've said this stuff elsewhere).

There is a third, more diverse set of plankton as well, from Bandai:
They originally came in the little jars with some sort of slime/goo that washed off nicely. I've only ever seen the set once, I think it was from 2000 or earlier.

They already make a lot of species and although it is my main interest, the brand never pleased me although I like to see the figures in pictures. I wished figures were "solide" (I've read that some already are) and not puzzles, of course. Also I wished it was easier to get. :)

What would I like to see Kaiyodo produce?Hmm...they already ARE producing some of what I would love to see, with their Capsule Q Museum marine reptiles coming up not too long from now. But to get more greedy about it,I'd like to see them come up with even more marine reptiles, like the placodonts and mosasaurs.Or maybe pterosaurs if they want to change up some.

They do have some marine reptiles coming out in July!
If the date here is to believed (scroll down a bit), on my birthday no less!

Ah, I'd never seen these! No wonder either, by your description they sound very scarce indeed. Still, nice to see the recent sets aren't entirely alone. Thanks for the info, and sorry for my ridiculously late response - I never saw this until now.
As for the topic at hand - I just came across this, and now I want a Kaiyodo of it. Or a whole set. On wee stages. Going:

I'd like to see more series like the Tyrannosaur and Ceratopsian series released in the last year.
In particular, a series on at least each of the following: Ankylosauria, Carnosauria, Abelisauroidea, Stegosauria. It would be awesome.

I would like to see "small wild cats of the world" set and, maybe the tree kangaroos species set. And the lemurs set. Of course with each figure representing different species not a variants of the same species in different poses
I would also like to see cock of the rock figure (Rupicola peruvianus)
