Coca Cola premium animal figurines from 1961

In 1961, the original campaign began in Mombassa, Kenya and there were 20 figures. A person had to collect 10 or more special Coca Cola bottle caps and mail them to the company to receive just one animal. South Africa wanted to be included and added the large Springbok figure - so that made a complete set 21 figures:

1) Springbok
2) Lion
3) Lioness
4) Leopard
5) Cheetah
6) Eland
7) Sable Antelope
8.) Kudu
9) Gemsbok
10) Impala
11) Zebra
12) Hippo
13) Rhino
14) Giraffe
15) Hyena
16) Warthog
17) Water Buffalo
18) Crocodile
19) Elephant
20) Baboon
21) Wildebeest

The Springbok isn't in this set. It was added later on the promotion.

Interesting.  I just saw a report on TV about the South African rugby team "Springbok", which was a major target in the fight against apartheit around that time !
It was a "White Only" team, they would not even play against the Maoris in the New Zealand team, but when Madela became president, that was finally changed
