I have been asked by Ana to show some more pictures of my stables/barn diorama. Since I have very limited space at home I wanted to do something small, something I could put aside easily. Here we go Background: In Germany we still have many old fashioned farm houses built with wood, stone and reeds. Some examples of real buildings [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I started with a panel and glued the wood onto it [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I painted the wood in a dark bay color [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Than I filled the gaps with an airdrying clay. With a piece of wooden strip I imprinted stone imitations into the clay. This took quite a while... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I painted the finished wall parts with a paint wash [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]After this I used pastels to color the single stones [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Because the pastels got everywhere I had to repaint the fugues with a light acrylic paint wash. This took some time too... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Still interested?

Thank you, glad you all like it!!! I never counted the hours I worked on this piece... Doing all the little bricks, every joint between the bricks neede to be redone... After clay dried several cracks developed that needed repair... The painting part wasn't so difficult after all. Filling every joint with the lighter needed more effort and time. Ok, here we go.. I added a large door and windows [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]You can open the doors [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]A roof added [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]First attempts of taking pictures outside. It still lacked some kind of background, so nothing would show through the windows. Still not finished yet! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I built some kind of small boxes behind the windows and the barn door so it looks a bit of three-dimensional [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Of course it has been illuminated as well [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Thank you so much friends!! Some more details: An old fence with gate on both sides of the barn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Birdhouse [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]After taking several pictures with my dio it was obvious it needed a matching ground. So I planed in doing a cobblestone ground for the barn, stay tuned!
