| Today arrived my PRE (Pura Raza Española, or Pure Spanish Breed) stallion by Safari, bad called Andalusian (Andalusian is not a breed, is the popular name of the PRE horses). I want to repaint it, but I don´t know what coat... Any suggestions? The mold is this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I thought about a dark cherry bay or a rose grey... But I don´t know xD _________________ Visit my collection gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Visit my art gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I accept commissions! |

HorsesRock, I can´t paint it piebald, because PREs don´t have pinto patterns :) _________________ Visit my collection gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Visit my art gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I accept commissions! |

| A question : Would a "rose gray" not be a very young horse ? The original model could have been a dappeled grey (-rose or other ) when younger, only would it not be very difficult for a young horse to reach this thind of schooling ? Never mind, it is for the fun of making a great figures Great model, good luck, I hope you will show us the result, please |

Great model, good luck, I hope you will show us the result, please It seems to me that the original model is a very light perlino (bay with double Cream dilution). Here´s a perlino, but a bit darker than the model by Safari: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The Safari horse has dark muzzle, hooves and eyes, so it could also be a grey, but greys don´t ussually have yellow mane and tail. Greys tend to have greyish or white mane and tail, not yellowish :) Anyway, it could be a very white grey horse. About greys getting white younger or older, it depends of the expression of the genes in THAT horse and if it´s heterozygote or homozygote. Heterozygotes (just one G allele) tend to retain the coat color longer than homozygotes (2 G alleles). In that way there can be 5 years old horses nearly white and 20 yo horses that retain most of their color on the body :) I hope I answered your question, I didn´t understand it very well :S _________________ Visit my collection gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Visit my art gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I accept commissions! |

Thanks, Sylvia about the grey-gene, yes, it varies a lot. The Safari-figuere isn`t a perlino, I think. As you say, they have very, very light skin, almost pink as a cremello`s, and yeallow hoves. Like you, I also wondered why that horse has cream mane/tail, - I think it is what we call "Artist`s freedom" - Like Picassos lady with the eye on the cheek etc Just for the fun of it, here is my cremello Albina, - 22 years old Icey . [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]She is not as pretty as she used to be 18 years and 10 foals ago, but she is a personality and I love her She used to be a fantastic riding horse, - with all 5 gaits !!!!!! |

About the safari horse, I think the person who painted it wanted to do something like a perlino but didn´t know perlinos have pink skin xD Thanks, I am glad you like Albina You may well be right about the Safai-PRE, - or the persons to approve the design changed it before production. BEC (blueyed cream) is not often considered nice. As you probably know, they are excluded from the stud books in several breeds. Funny thing is, that Schleich`s "Andaluser"-mare has the same colour , - and her foal looks like a buckskin. But Schleich`s Camargue-mare also has cream mane, and to the best of my knowledge they are grey, not BEC. Maybe it is just lack of research |

| In Germany is the pony-standard 1,48 m. All under 1,48 m are ponys (sometimes even Arabians). 1,49 m and more are horses. |
