The area I use depends on when I move my room around, I just try to get near one of my windows. All this is is a dark blue piece of poster board, which this particular color is kind of hard to find, some of my older pics had a more gray blue board behind them and I hated it. Then I found this color again and bought two for when eventually this other gets stepped on or ruined somehow (which has happened before). Plus, I just like this color of blue.
And of course one of my dogs insists on not moving from his warm sunshine spot.

This is the camera stuff I use and ofc this one what I was using. I have no photo if it right now And a flash which gives nice like day light effect.

Right back at ya. You have a nicer camera though. I just have a small canon power shot. Its pretty good but it has seen its day.

It doesn't matter if you have a good camera - you need to know how to use it! And I don't usually know how to get the best result... I've been dreaming about some small pocket camera so long! Maybe santa will bring you something..

Paige, I love that blue colour too ...and you are so young, it does not matter if you have to sit on the floor...so cosy with the doggie helping you

The chair is some vintage treasure and I love it too That's not tidy, look at the bed

Thanks everyone for sharing your photo set ups. It's been really interesting seeing how different people do things. Of course chocolate is a must for good photography, we all know that

I finaly had some time (and space) to re-install my camera-setup at the desk in my home-office and take some shots* of it along the way.
Over time i have tried several settings for pictures of figures, but for now this is good.

I try to keep the camera fairly low, just above figure height.
Not right up against the desk, but a bit further, using a little zoom.
This prevents some distortion from a wide-angle lens.
I have just one desklight shining onto the figures in the set-up.
I set the camera to artificial light and mostly the shutter at F/11.
I use a remote-cable release to avoid movement of the camera at longer shutter speeds.

The result

I sometimes cut off too much blank space around the figure in the picture and/or combine serveral shots to make one image.

I used to be a boyscout from many years.
No jungle in The Netherlands, but we surely did loads of wood-rope constructions.
