| This is the place where I'll show any modern animal sculptures I make. These first animals were used in my Prairie Town diorama last year on the Animal Toy Forum. (I'm copying the following from what I posted there, to save re-posting the images individually.) These are the first miniature animals I've sculpted to fit with other figurines. They are ~1:10 scale. While the mammals are on the "cute" side, I'm mostly satisfied with the balance between realism and personality. First are the black-tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus): [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here they are with similarly scaled friends: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]and here's a dusky outdoor portrait: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]They'll need a few more relatives someday to make a better "town". _________________ - Andy

| Here are the last pictures for now- the burrowing owls (Athene cunicularia). While the other animals were baked as single pieces of polymer clay, I had to do the owls' legs first in order to balance the body sculpts on them. I'm quite pleased with these little birds. :) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]and together: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] _________________ - Andy

| Very nicely sculpted models, the snake has a nice flow to it. A lot of personality in each piece and more impressive due to the small scale. I hope to see more of your work. |

| Oh, one more. Here is the diorama from ATF. looking rather small at 800px wide, though.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I hope to do more models in the future, and always improve, so criticism and ideas are welcome. I'll also note here that sadly I don't have the knowledge or tools right now to make copies of sculptures, though I'd like to eventually. _________________ - Andy

| Thanks, Elephas! Your sculptures are extremely inspiring- elephants are a difficult animal for sculpting. I also find the idea of digital sculpture interesting. _________________ - Andy

| Wow! They all look so real! I'd comment on one and say it's my favorite but they're all just amazing! |

| They're looking so cool! I can hardly choose a favorite (but if I have to I would go for the ferret, just look at it's sweet face ). Both the sculpt and paintwork on all of them are nice and you gave them a lot of character too. I would love to see you make more birds of prey in the future. _________________ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Anne-Joke [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ajs.artistry - Instagram AJs Artistry Shop - Etsy |
