What happens when you win/lose a eBay auction?

I feel like those when I win something cheap on eBay.
And I sometimes feel like the other one when I just lose on eBay, although of course always being aware I have no idea what the winning bidder's max was. (Was I close? Or was winner's max way high?)

Sometimes I feel distinctly when I win. but at or near my max, if I wanted the item, but was hoping not to pay that much for it.
And sometimes I feel distinctly when there are lots of bids in the last few seconds, meaning not only was I outbid, but the winner and close under-bidder(s) were prepared to pay HOW MUCH !!!!! for the item.

I just wait to the last 10 seconds and bid higher than the latest bidder. I was the only bidder, however. The price was good too.

I do the same, although usually at 13 or 14 seconds, as sometimes the box is slow to come up to hit the 'confirm' button, and still sometimes I'm outbid, probably because most buyers do the same.

Luckily that did not happen to me. I was the only one who placed a bid anyways.

I sometimes feel like Bob when I win a rarely seen item

And I feel also like the panda when I miss a much coveted item because I slept or I forget. It is even worse if I finally discovered that the auctions come to a couple of bucks
