FINAL RELEASES - CollectA 2015: WILDLIFE - Orangutan Male (88730)

This is the impressive male orangutan.   I was not involved with this as it was made by special request from San Diego Zoo to honour their male Orangutan named Satu.  I do like the pose as it is different from any we have seen so far.....

There have been some minor adjustment to this model so the final one may look ever so slightly different from the prototype-catalogue image below.

He is standing with his toes curled inwards and you can see this under the feet of the model.

Wow, a nice orang utan again!  But aren't the feets a little too big?  
I also don't think that is the best pose for a male orang utan, but well done!

A balance had to be made between enabling the model to stand with ease otherwise it would have had a base and a based animal is not really loved by all.

Fantastic figurine! Collecta is absolutely the best brand nowadays!

I like the pose, CollectA had already made before a sitting orangutan, Papo's and old male Schleich are also sitting and most of the others are on four limbs. Standing is not often used to that species, so being it a common species I think the pose was a good choice.

I know what you mean but I think a walking would be better. Because that I don't really know if I need a clymbing animal on the ground.

Fantastic. I love the pose. The model is wonderful. CollectA has come a long way from their older models. (comparing this to the older orangutan...wow.)

I thought CollectA was going to give my wallet a break this coming year. I guess not.

I know what you mean but I think a walking would be better. Because that I don't really know if I need a clymbing animal on the ground.  

He doesn´t look like clymbing to me :) Sometimes orangutans walk with their hands up so... He is wonderful to me ... and funny

This is a very nice ape, and I think I will buy it. Funny pose and collectA has done a good job with the fur.

You can't have too many primates! 2014 has been a great year for monkey/ape collectors like myself (I still haven't got them all! ) - I've been searching the major brands for 2015 primates, and apart from this one, I've only found another lemur from Mojo, and a couple of Safari minis. Have I missed any??

I love this new orang, definitely my favourite model I've seen so far for next year. It's nice to have one standing upright for a change, and I'm happy to trade off larger feet for no base.

Numaan, I see you're also in the UK - are there any CollectA stockists here? I've never seen them for sale in any shops.

As far as I can remeber that's all for now. Though we still don't know all releases from Mojö, I believe also Bullyland are not all presented and still a lot to know about Papo.

...For collectors Collecta was #1 in 2014 and Collecta is #1 now in 2015

Oh I see. I meant another primate from CollectA after the fabulous Diana Monkey.

CollectA again is striking back with a common species in an unusual pose, I really like this philosophy

I think it is a climbing orangutan, or a standing on the branchs one, because orangutans are very poor walker. Their ability to do the splits easily gives them a weakness for standing on their feet

WOW! I've seen Satu since he was born in March 1995 when I first started going to the SD Zoo! His parents were Josephine (Passed away) and dad Clyde now at the Rolling Hills Zoo in Salina, Kansas (Transferred there in 11'). He's had two babies Cinta (Now at St Louis Zoo since 12') and current one yr old daughter Aisha! Can't believe they made a figure of him! Another famous Orang and probably the most famous SD Zoo animal(Maybe some know or heard about him) is Ken Allen who was a real escape artist and made world news with his hijinks)! Satu is a big boy (Close to 300 pounds) and since dad Clyde left, his cheek pads are really developed(Even though once mature and separated Satu didn't get the secondary sexual characteristics cause dad was still around). I will see Satu tomorrow and send all regards from his collector fans! If you check out the Ape Cam I wanted to include the two other Orangs you may see. Karen (Who had a hole in her heart over twenty years ago and doctors from UCSD preformed the surgery on her) and Janey (The only Bornean) who always likes to come up and visit with me at the glass(Been going regularly to the SD since March 95, and I am fortunate(And it's so cool) to have Orangs, Bonobos, Gorillas, Elephants, Bactrian Camel and Lions recognize me!
