It's for a new family member with a Japanese mum. We wanted to find a Japanese animal to send as a gift but we couldn't find anything suitable so decided to make one.

Great job as always Jason, but before you bake take a look at some photos, the body needs to be fatter, it should be almost as fat as the mane! Unless you're going to add bulk on another layer, then he's perfect as is.

Thanks for the feedback Phil. As with most species there can be significant variations in body shape and colouration. This is my model - not as full or fluffy in the body as many other pictures that I've seen but it had a very good side profile to base the shape from... My photo also makes the head look disproportionately large to the body because of the closeup with my iphone camera - in reality it's better proportioned I'm probably at a disadvantage though as I've never seen one in real life!

I've never seen one that skinny! But you're model does fit that individual very well! I give you my approval to continue.

As some of you know me from other then here you can get the joke but for those who may think I'm being overly controlling, when artists like Jason (and he is an artist, not just a sculptor) has done commissions for me in the past I decide on the scale and species, I give him my idea of a scene in my head and the rest is pretty much in his hands, so no matter what I think, it is only my opinion. You may think I'm being over sensitive but recently some people who don't know me have sent me some hate mail over a very clear joke between myself and another friend who is an artists but sometimes others take life just a little to seriously!

No Jason, it wasn't you or your work, it was another friend and a stranger came at me with hate mail over it, I knew you would be good with any help I might give, besides, real offers of suggestions are just that suggestions, nothing more!

What scale is he? Or if you didn't make him to a scale how big is he, head to tail and shoulder height?

He's 11cm long and 6cm at the shoulder. Not made to a particular scale.

This model has great sculpting and paint work, it looks really nice. I particularly like the way you painted the mottled hair pattern.
