So nice to receive such a lovely response, especially about the coat - so for Christophe here are some closer photos.. as for a tutorial I don't really have any other progress shots but just quickly to get this effect I followed these steps:

1. heavier texture scoring in the clay to give the impression of thicker fur
2. white undercoat
3. bone colour base coat over most of the body, black base coat over chest/front legs
4. black rinse over everything (to get the black into the grooves) and dull down the bone
5. small black streaks trying to follow the texture pattern on the model and also following the fur pattern
6. light brown patching (minimal) on around ears, top head, across top of back and behind shoulders
7. brown rinse over the same areas to blend the brown
8. small bone streaks again trying to follow the fur texture pattern (these stand out over the dulled down bone from step 3.
9. mix of white and bone to get the lighter highlights (tufts of fur and particularly around rump)
10. fiddling with smaller streaks of black, bone and white/bone mix until I was happy enough with it!

I think it's more effective when viewed back from a slight distance, like pixels in a photo it's not quite so great up very close!!
