| I use the name of our SUY, but its not really a SUY, because it's only for customers. Maybe it will be helpful for beginners Here are my stuff: I mix most of my colors, so this is all I used till now my crafting tools: (besides one out of metal, they were all in one pack) sample board with some toilet paper, to dry my brushes and my favourite brushes I have some more, for example the wire stuff I use to make a first skeleton. I will add them later _________________ Find me on Instagram

| Here's mine: Toothpicks, a needle, and some entomologists' pins, as well as one of the paint colors I use. I have a set of wood tools like Bonobo has, but they have been sitting in a drawer for two years. |

| May I ask you guys what you use to tear a model appart? It sounds quite extreme, but I don't know how to explain else I mean, what do you use to take off a leg, tail or a head to put it on otherwise? _________________ Christina |

I mean, what do you use to take off a leg, tail or a head to put it on otherwise? Nah, "chopping up models" is a common phrase in this house. It depends on what model I'm working on, what material it is. Breyers (which are hollow cellulose acetate) I just use a hacksaw or a dremel. PVC major brand models, I usually use an x-acto knife but on larger sections I'll use a hacksaw or a dremel. PVC models are a pain to cut through since they're solid but the results are great if done right. To reattach I use what we call "supersoda" which is a combination of baking soda and super glue. You dab on a little super glue, then put the part back on and sprinkle on baking soda. The baking soda hardens the super glue immediately. |

| Thanks! I need it for taking of the ears of the collecta black backed jackal, so I think a little knife will work best :) Thank you for the tips! The superglue and baking soda is a tip I'm gonna try too, sounds good :) _________________ Christina |

| Happy to help! I would definitely recommend wearing heavy gloves to protect your hands. That way if the blade slips it won't go in your hand like it did to me. If it helps at all you can build up and "sculpt" things using the supersoda method as well. I just chopped the tail off a Breyer SM draft and built a new tail entirely out of the supersoda. It takes a lot of sanding but I like this better than trying to sculpt a whole new one out of clay. I often use the supersoda method to make new ears too. This might work for you. Put some glue where the ear should go, and turn the model upside down so the glue starts to drip a bit. If you have a good glue it shouldn't actually drip off, just bubble up. Slowly dip the glue in baking soda, and it will harden. Continue to do this to build a very rough shape of the new ear, and make it slightly larger so you have some room to sand it into the shape you want. I use needle files but plain old nail files from the dollar store work just fine. You might have some holes to fill in but that can be done with more supersoda and sanding it down again. All of this can be primed over and painted when you're done. |
