Anna's Horse Sculptures-update-November 29th 2022

Today I have a new horse to show you. This sculpture was my work for the "Storytellers" Art Exhibition organized by Paard Verzameld collective, a group of artists specialized in equine art. I'm a part of this group too so I was happy to get my chance and show my work to the public :) The Exhibition took place in the stables for retired horses - De Paardenkamp. In the summer the stables are empty and nearly all horses spend whole days outside.

It's a portrait of an old Icelandic mare Moeara
Moeara is a 21-year-old Icelandic mare, living at the barn Vosseveld, De Paardenkamp, where she gets the best care a retired horse can receive She caught my attention with her amazing wild mane, looking like a rock-n-roll grandma.
Interestingly, she arrived in De Paardenkamp together with her mother and sister, so all 3 of them can enjoy their old days there.

The exhibition was back in August so I could show her here earlier but I decided to take the time and make some corrections to the model. We had a limited time to create the artwork and I wasn't 100% happy with her back then.

Now I'm happy to show you a revised and final version of this model.
In the last couple of weeks, I worked on some adjustments and I'm finally happy with the result. She will go to molding this week
She looks a bit younger now after the remake but I think she still very much resembles the real Moeara.

Amazing work Anna! Absolutely gorgeous! I love seeing the process of how you bring the mare to life!

She's so stunning with lots of character Moeara looks like a horse who is read for a cuddle any time of day

And I really enjoy the WIP pictures too! It's cool to what's under that outermost layer and what it takes to get there

Beautiful sculpt, her rock-n-roll hairstyle is very well done. Why are the mane and tail blue, is this a different material?

The materials are Super Sculpey and Apoxie. The blue clay is just a different color of Apoxie. Sometimes it's nice to have a different colored clay, just for a change. I used the blue one also for Bluebird - the foal from earlier this year.

You surely captured her perfectly. She has a distinctive look with her hairstyle and unusual head. It looks like you have a preference for charming horses instead of the very traditional looking ones.

His edition is closed, unfortunately. I’d love to have him in my collection as well.

I recently saw one for sale on MHSP (Model Horse Sales Pages), but I think he's gone now. But I'm sure there will be another one sooner or later.
