2015 Mojo releases at Hobby Lobby

I had to make an unexpected trip to the neighboring county yesterday. On my way back home I needed to take a rest stop... what better place than the Hobby Lobby 50 miles (80 km) from my home?

Unfortunately, they didn't have very many 2015 Mojos, only the new shetland ponies and the spanish bull so far. But perhaps other Hobby Lobbies have stocked more of the new figures than mine? Might be worth a stop if you live nearby one.

I purchased the shetlands. They are so adorable! I couldn't be happier with them. They are now my favorite pony sculpts. I hope Mojo makes them in lots of colors.

I hope to have better pictures soon. I broke my good camera this summer, and my replacement has been a big disappointment with very small figures because its minimum object distance is 15 mm, making close up pictures impossible for small scales.

I hope Hobby Lobby keeps getting Mojo figures once I believe it is an important business to the company. Have you admired the black bull? Is it as nice as it looks in catalogue pictures?

I did pick the bull up and he was nice, but I was a little puzzled because he lacked some of the fine detail that the one on the website has. Perhaps that particular one was painted too thickly? I've noticed the paint can be somewhat thick on the Suffolk mare in some batches as well. I should have taken a picture regardless, although I didn't think of it at the time (and my phone's camera is awful). I may need to visit that town again in a week or so and I will bring my camera if I do.

Ahh I was just there the other day and forgot to check the Mojos!!

Really cute models I think they look way better than the promotional photos.

Would love to add the shetland to my herd but they are still not available in Germany. Same with the spanish bull. Does anybody know where to buy these in Europe?

I don't believe these are available yet in Europe.
I'm not sure why, but some of the promised, new 2015 releases, take a long, loooooooooooooong time to appear in shops.

I meant to make a note here on what I saw at Hobby Lobby a little while back- I'll try to remember...

New figures were the Shetland pony & foal, Spanish bull, elephant, brown bear & cub, and the minis (also the 2014 zebra, I didn't remember seeing before). The hippo, sloth, sun bear, and hyena were put on clearance- not a long shelf life for the bear and sloth, but at least I caught them in time.

The new and old elephants were together:

and a closer-up picture of some of the minis that stood out to me the most:


My thoughts, for whatever they're worth: I can't help but think that the best approach to the elephant would be some combination of these two, with slightly lankier proportions. The cheetah painting is a huge improvement! Really good to see. The minis on that picture were nicely scaled down versions, with fairly good painting on the zebra. The hippo and crocodile seemed a bit "off" compared to these. The lion was based on the first model- I personally prefer the newer lion sculpture- maybe the mini was designed beforehand or maybe it was a deliberate choice. I still think this would be a good format for smaller animal species, besides the mini-versions of larger animals. My favorite is the buffalo- one came home with me so I will have to share pictures elsewhere.

I agree with you that smaller figures should represent smaller species but never in a Mini concept. They are only minis because they represent large animal figures in smaller size. But, in bulks, blisters or tubes, surely it is an excellent idea and I share your wish.
I am surprised with the update in painting of Mojo cheetah and I am very curious to see painting updates in 2016 as Mojo announced.

I was finally able to visit Hobby Lobby again, but they didn't have anything new. Just the Shetlands and a couple Spanish Bulls with thick paint (now flaking) like last time. It didn't look like they sold much or got anything new since September. I am disappointed because I was hoping to see something new by now. Soon, hopefully! I want the Suffolks when they get better paint, and probably a lot of others.
