And some of us are always on the prowl for some good figurines, so we can keep an eye open for stuff, that some of the other collectors are searching for... :) Just like Amy helping me with the beluga! |

| What!? 519,60 euro??? This maddness is continuing! Yes Phil, this one seems to be real... Maybe i must buy a big box of normal beagles, and start re-painting them as realistic as possible, then i can buy and collect for the next years... |

| This buyer must be sitting on a boatload of cash. They have outbid me on quite a few auctions and the prices they pay are outrageous. |

| I must admitt Amy, when i had the cash to do so right now, i would buy and pay what would be needed too, to complete my collection. And i know, that you buy a lot good stuff, and sometimes pay a lot too, but not this outrageous like prices are going now... |

Yes he is still on buying everything from Schleich. I think he wants to become the Torben of Denmark. We don`t know, perhaps it is the crown prince Frederik himself. But perhaps when he is complete we would see him on this board. |

| Well, I just finished doing battle again with our newfound friend from Denmark. This gentleman (or gentlewoman) is a very serious and well funded competitor. I hope he/she arrives here to post photos, as there is a big collection growing in Denmark. He/she is not willing to just pay anything for a rare piece, as evidenced by the recent 468 euro beagle auction, in which he/she tabled a bid for 351 euros and then gave up. |

| But then she paid 519,60 Euro for the next. There is a second woman from Denmark wich is even buying much a lot. Sometimes both of them are taking a battle. I think they should combined her collections, its cheaper for them

| Well, i just had a long phone-call with my friend Torben about many things, and collecting of course... We talked about the fact if you were rich enough to buy everything you wanted... Would it be still fun then, and the same satisfaction(although there is always something to find or collect)?
When i would be near completing my Schleich animal-collection, i would be paying much for the last items i miss, just because i had more sources available for those items... I wish i would be soon there, as i had more cash for older and much more items then, like the old Lineols and other brands... |

That's an interesting topic for discussion. Even if you had the money to buy it all, it still wouldn't mean that you could find everything, at least not right away. I think that the ultimate answer depends on WHY one collects..... :) |

| I wonder if bidding on ebay is similar to gambling for some people. I 've been disappointed when I put my highest bid in and find someone at the last few minutes has outbid me...by only one dollar. Of course their highest bid was probably much more than that but I have felt like I missed it for such a small amount. Can you tell I'm new to buying/bidding on ebay as well as new to collecting Schleich. Some of the figures I have purchased on ebay were not in as good a shape as I'd hoped, so that gives me reason to keep an eye out for ones in better condition and possibly with a tag! Over here in the USA I am watching bidders really bringing up the prices of Schleich's retired figures. Not like the black and white beagle by any means, but still $$$$. I guess that's good for other collectors though right? It makes your figures that much more valuable! Sue |

| Well, i am collecting in the first place because i love animals, and i can´t have a real zoo, so then i like to have them in a smaller PVC version or so, haha. And it gives me satisfaction trying to complete some lines, and even all when possible, but this will never going to happen i guess, so always something there to hunt for, as i said before... I hope i have a lot of years left to get near this goal... Peter, maybe this person wants a hunting/pack of beagles or so... |

How many beagle does he want?? Don't know about that, but I'm really pleased with this morning's auctions. I had three big targets in mind, and outbid our Danish friend for all three. My gosh, I feel like St. George! Or David, post-Goliath..... I see he won the WWF 15006 Panda, and a few other items, as well. Congrats to him on those. |

| I see that he also won your latest WWF Orangutan and Classics Farmhouse. I believe that he is a member of this forum, and has been here for a while. Two brown pelicans with tag today auctioned for about 65 euros each, which is significantly less than they auction for on eBay.com in the last year or so. I guess it is no longer a super-rare item, as sanity has been re-established... |

Congratulation to you. You have paid in the past only the half prize of her. |

| Where do you find those Schleich WWF figurines Phil? I never seem to stumble on them... Now that you have some, you could give me a tip when you see one, without having the fear that i try to outbid you... |

I never seem to stumble on them... Now that you have some, you could give me a tip when you see one, without having the fear that i try to outbid you... Hello, Willy. There have been just the three auctions, all in the last few months. No problem, I'd be happy to send you a PM when more show up, but don't hold your breath, as who knows how long until the next one. Frankly, with the very high bids made recently for other super-rare items, I'm a little surprised that the winning amounts for these WWF figures haven't been higher, but THAT'S OKAY... :) I'm not worried about competing with you for these; if you outbid me and win one, then you deserve the figurine and I'll say "Congratulations, job well done..." ....."To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven..." | To follow up on my reply to Willy, two posts above - these WWF 15000 series figurines are what I am always looking for in antique stores, flea markets, sidewalk sales, etc. Yes, it's a bit of a "longshot" but since they were also a World Wildlife Fund product line, I think it may be possible to find them, even here in the USA (good for brown pelicans, but maybe not much else).
Another point - the figurine I have has no mark identifying it as Schleich or WWF product, AFAIK, so maybe that might give a collector a clue as to HOW to search for these online.....
