| Christophe, i was on your side of the discussion already, so i don't understand why you named me between the other people, but is doesn't matter... I agree that the position of the model is great, the colour and ribcage are definitely not in my eyes... Even when it would be possible to see the ribs sometimes, it isn't neccesary to show them on models, and specially not so odd... Well Roger, here on the forum are many people that know very much about nature and his processes... I do give lectures, specialised on tropical fish for example, and the knowledge about the evolution, and everything that comes with that, like genetics, are very usefull for a tropical fish-breeder and bird-breeder like me, and specially when i do give those lektures. I have to tell the people how things work in nature, and on the latest standards and news, i feel that as an obligation in my hobby's. But i could give one about a lot of animal-families to, no problem, as i am interested in animals since i was a little child, and in 48 years, a lot of knowledge builds up when you are interested in the subject, isn't it. But it is good to know, that we have more people(like you), that know more then the average person, and that is another thing that makes this forum to the succes it is right now. |

Willy, I can I know more than the average if I even wasn't able to understand your comment? I've read all tread and my comments are empty, no jokes, no active participation, nothing! Is it really me??? Anyway thanks Willy! |

| I dont understand. This german site shows a photograph in detail of the model but the paint colour is much darker. Could Torben have gotten a painted model from a batch which they forgot to add the dark colour in the factory? Does anyone have the Okapi with the dark painting as pictured here? | Well here I am and really dissapointed What about their ribs? What about their colour? What about their size? I really don´t like Bullyland... Pose of female is amazing and i love her head... Baby´s head is too big and body too short... it looks weird. I´ll buy them because i loooooove okapis but they are... not my favourite. Papo okapi is the best still!!! _________________ My webside / my collection / my youtube channel / my facebook / my instagram / my twitter

- Hi Kiki I am glad that we can agree to disagree at this forum. That is what makes this forum so great. I think we both have very strong arguments and in many ways have very valid points. The world of nature is a very complex and beautiful web. I think we can both agree on that! Thanks for your opinions. Its nice to hear your point of view..
I will let you know that the Eastern Bongos that I saw in Kenya were a very dark rich red. There coats were beautiful russet in color. There coats are very different than Okapis. Being an Okapi fanatic I have made it a point to visit as many zoos in North America that house them. Currently there are about 25 zoos that have Okapis in N. America and I have been to 22 of them. I will be able to visit 2 more this spring. I will say of these Okapis 95 % of them have been a very dark brown coat.
I can live with the new Bullyland models but not the color. Perhaps I may send them to England to visit Harriet so she can give them her magical touch with the paint brush. I agree Larry and I like this place because we can discuss without hurting or being hurted if we disagree. I live near Belgium and there is some okapis in zoo because the Congo was a Belgian colony and they are darker than the pics of Torben . My meaning was : Could we say the savannah antelopes are often light brown because it help them to avoid predators ? Why not... In the savannah, it's agreat advantage to be in the same colors than the grass and bushes. If those antelopes were darker they will not survive ... Then come a Roan antelope... More brown but, well it survives... Then come a sable antelope... . Well... Let's go to bed |

| Thank you so much Harriet I love the pose of the mother, the way she look at her calf... But that ribs are really terrible. How can Bullyland chose a wonderful pose and suddenly thought : Hey, it is too good, can we do somehing to the ribbcage ? |

| Very informative pictures Harriet! I love to see pictures from above even this okapi makes me think in a marine animal! As I told before I will not buy it, Papo and Schleich are enough, but very interesting for those who love okapis! :) |

| Thanks all, glad you liked the pictures Christophe I really wonder why Bullyland did those strange ribs I'm going to try and get rid of them when I repaint. I love her pose too, the position of the back legs I particularly like and of course her head craning round is very graceful, nice idea. _________________ Harriet My *Collection* My *Handmade Animal Sculpture*

| They are adorable, Harriet. Wonderful pictures, too I love the calf, - isn`t it the only okapi calf in the market ? About the ribcage, - I do not think it is a ribcage, I always thought it was the skin being a bit loose after her having recently given birth, so it wrinkels as she turns her head Well, exaggerated wrinkling , - and I may be wrong of course At least it makes her different from the others |
