Das Set Straußennest Schleich 42247 - Ostrich nest

The new ostrich nest by Schleich is coming in.    The set has the number 42247 and costs here in our town 4,99 Euro.
It´s a very little ostrich baby, perhaps only a few hours old.  To the set belongs also a egg. You can open the egg and put indside the little baby ostrich.
It´s a nice idea, but the egg looks like a little bit like yellow plastic eggs from Kinderüberraschung in Germany.  
I have make some photos for you. The big ostrichs are from Schleich and the little sitting ostrich is by CollectA.

I think they could have used a better design for the egg,but otherwise this is a very cute set! I like these new tiny sets they've been coming out with.

The little playsets I have seen so far are all very nice.
So is this one. What a cute little chick.
But a see-through egg? Hahaha! Come on Schleich.

There is already a momma for the chick-we do live in modern times-also a"dad"can a "momma"-of course not for old times christians, but for modern people from the 21.century -why not ? And most of the buyers do not know there is a visable diffrence between male and female ostriches....so why Schleich should make a boring looking female ostrich, what nobody would buy ?

The gerbils are a must have. The best Schleich in2015 for me. But i will get the sets on christmas:)

To learn to kids that there is a difference between a male ostrich and a female.
In nature, the male ostrich has several females laying eggs in a big nest, who the male will hatch and take care for.
So it is partially right, but on the other hand they should make a female.

Schleich is not the only brand who is reluctant to bring out females btw XD

Both Ostrich parents do care for the chicks-the male and the main female-and both are breeding-the male in the night, the main female at day. Because of the camouflage. So whats Schleich is doing is defenitely wrong.

Only Emu,Rhea and Cassowary males do care alone for the chicks- bad Mom would kill them...

Thanks Niklas, I like also these sets, they are somewhat educational. And that's exactly because of it that I am one of those that think that it is not acceptable that Schleich never released a female ostrich. Schleich repaint and reuse so often their moulds, it won't be hard to repaint one of them in a female.
Some brands released pairs of ostriches where it is not hard to see which one is the female.
we can check on TAI the magnificent figures from Kitan, Playmobil also released a pair or the known examples from Bandaï or Noah's Pals. I have to remember also that Noah's Pals was bought by Schleich what haven't helped too much the brand identifying both genders.

Congrats! What an awesome find! I am glad schleich actually made an ostrich nest, let alone their chick! But great for all of the ostrich lovers out there I bet!
