Thanks Alfonso, I tried to enlarge these thumbnails but I am missing something.
I am really impressed with the figure, it seems very well done and fair to the real animal, very detailed also. Unfortunately completely out of my possibilities but a figure that surely deserves all this money. :)
I haven't figured the scale, is it 1:24??

Now we see big models of kaiyodo.

The elephant is sculpted by Kaiyodo's Shinobu Matsumura who also made a series of other large scale animal models (lion, rhino, warthog, whales etc) all very rare.  I believe this figure was sculpted about 18 years ago around 1996, it was produced in small numbers in resin (not vinyl) and was very scarce.....impossible to find now (one sold for about USD $500).

Luckily Kaiyodo recently decided to mass produce this wonderful figure in vinyl as part of the "MEGA SOFUBI ADVANCE" series, similar to the blue whale already available.  There has been a new technique developed in vinyl casting that allows for the fine details of the skin wrinkles to be reproduced faithfully, apparently this was hard to achieve before.  The model will be sold fully painted, I assume assembled too as it is cast in several pieces.

The model is 30 cm tall (2kg) according to Amazon, the tip of the ears being the highest point.  If you take the shoulder height it is about 25.5 cm, using an average bull's height of 10ft the figure is approximately 1:12 scale.

Love th elephant but love that rhino more! Any more photos of the rhino? Could this be the start of a series of wild animals? It would be incredible.

Ohhhhh, excellent piece (as every animal figure sculpted by Shinobu Matsumura), I remember this elephant from one Japanese magazine when was originally released (as well as the cheetah and the macaw) but I had no size comparison. Fortunately for my wallet: Too big one for my collection...
