| Subject: Wonderful package from Sweeden :-) Wed Nov 02, 2011 3:53 pm | |
| Not long ago Anna and I made a trade. I was very happy with the trade and I hoped Anna also was, - but when her package arrived, I could not believe my own eyes Pardon me if this is not the right place to show them, but as there are both "massefiguren", customs etc, it is where I decided they might fit best. I expected a scratched, old breyer horse and an old camel and a hyena with something broken, - and look whe Anna sent to me (Westie to show the size ) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Wonderful models in great shape....and A RIGTAILED LEMUR made by Anna Let`s start with the mare. Carolynn wrote about her : The Running Mare was sculpted by Chris Hess and was first released in 1961, one of Breyer's first models. The #124 matte bay* was released 1961-1987. From the looks of your mare, i'd guess she was made in the early 1980s.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Isn`t she adorable ? And THREE "massefiguren" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Perhaps somebody can show me what the family of the lovely, little lion cub look like The hyena is just wonderful, here together with the one that I had, - dear, old one-ear : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And together with others from Plaho, - grrrr [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Last, but certainly not least : A lovely ring tailed lemur made by Anna herself : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Together with the two that Harriet made : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]They fit just perfectly together Thankyou, thankyou, Anna for a wonderful packgage, - again

I'll take the old Hess sculpts - even his late 80s pieces - over the current Moodys any day of the week. |

I agree! well maybe not the stock horse mare... The new sculpts are beautiful works and perhaps "better" but they don't have the character of the old ones. "Pretty" is all they have going for them. But i confess i might be biased b/c i grew up with Hess, so they are in my soul as what horses should be. I look at a fighting stallion and i still feel a glow of joy. I have no emotional connection to the new ones. The running mare and foal, the fighting stallion, the mustang, and the 5-gaiter inhabit Olympus. i LOVE that camel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! _________________ carolynn

| Subject: A cakebox....FROM FRANCE !!!!!! Fri Nov 04, 2011 12:49 pm | |
| Yesterday one more package arrived WOW! It was so exiting, because it had been on the way for more than two weeks ! Of course I ripped the paper off, and could not help laughing, because it was A CAKEBOX [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Cristiphe had not only sent me two of the models I missed most, he had also packed them with care and humour ! Thankyou, thankyou, Christophe, dear wonderful macaque Well, what was inside ??? Yesssss !!!!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Two of the models I really, really wished for ! The Arsinotherium from Safari series of Prehistoric Life ! Now I think I have them all I found it on Ebay.fr, but the seller would not sell to ( or even have messages from) aliens outside France. So my reaction was " HELP ! Christophe, help me ! " And a few minutes after he saw my message, Christophe had bought it for me But , being Christophe, there is more ! I was hopping up and down when I saw Sumo`s Achaeopteryx from the Naturhistorische Gesellschaft in Nürnberg, and now Christophe wanted to give me his ! The Archie with red spots and the rare tag I am so lucky and happy. Thankyou very, very much Christophe, and thankyou Sumo to show us that there are two variations of the blue one [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Being a horrible variation-nerd, I love my little flock here [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here some pictures of the Arsinoterium. Isn`t he beautyful ? Brandnew in bag and with tag, but I had to remove the tag because it covered his eyes According to Wikipeia, he is a realtive to elafants and not to rhinoes. The horns were made of bone, not of hair like the horns of rhinos [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And together with his friend, the Ambelodon [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Christophe, you are a true gem, we are so lucky to have you in the forum PS : These models are both Safari and Bullyland. But they belong together, so I hope it is ok that I decided to how them here. |
