| Oh, this is exciting - can't wait to see it finished! The Iberian wolves I've seen in pictures have really interesting coloration. It should be fun to paint. |

I'm a starting sculptor and like to know (= learn). I have tried some projects myself and already accepted that sculpting is a very personal thing. The kind of clay to use, armature to make, and ways of baking/sculpting, etc. seems to be a very personal kind of choice and preferences. And I find it very interesting to read why people choose certain ways when it comes to sculpting. That's why I ask. This is a very good question as I see this more with other artists as well. They begin to sculpt the head and work it to the detail, and then all of a sudden they start sculpting an other part XD I have still the gaur calf to finish, but I am stuck! Don't know how to continue... So this is also interesting for me as well _________________ ~Karin~

And even different ways for different models pending on the size, the level of details and so. What I normally use to do is starting with the armature and imagine how it would fit the model finished. Then, continuously looking to my sketch, I try to start with the most detailed part, usually the head, and complete the figure baking it step by step (when I use polymer clay) to replicate it as I visualize it inside my mind... However, this is the following steps 9 and 10: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
